OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs., May 10, 2012 from 1:00am to 7:00am

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/10/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

The Network Registration host on the Davie campus is being migrated from VMWare ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.
When
: 3:00am – 6:00am
Affected Services: DNS (131.91.40.116), Network registration, DHCP
Affected Systems: DNSdav1, dhcpdav1, ldapdav1
Description of Maintenance: This change plan encompasses several changes.  First, the host operating system for the DNS, LDAP and DHCP servers at the Davie campus will be upgraded from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 (Oracle) to Scientific Linux 6.  Second, the host Hypervisor will be upgraded from VMWare ESXi Free to Microsoft Hyper-V on the Davie Network Registration Host (vmwdav1). Third, the new DNS, LDAP and DHCP servers will be storage migrated from the staging server to the upgraded production server.
User impact: This will cause intermittent issues with DNS, DHCP and LDAP at Jupiter.  However, systems with valid leases will automatically use the DNS server at FTL during this time.

Description of Maintenance:
We will be moving the network based storage for Blackboard production to the NetApp SAN.
User impact: 
Blackboard will be inaccessible while we are performing this maintenance.  We expect to return the system to service by 6:30 am.

Affected Systems:
cas1p, cas0p, lintalon0, and lintalon1
Description of Maintenance:
The goal of this migration is to move the Central Authentication Service hosts from the current SUN/Solaris environment to an x86/Linux environment. This change will allow for increased performance and additional high-availability features.
User impact:
Access to resources utilizing CAS for authentication purposes will be available intermittently (listed under Affected Services).

OwlApps, Blackboard, Blackboard test, IDM, CAS, Password Sync, Parature, and eCollege
Affected Systems:
dsboc, dsboc2, ds1p, and ds0p
Description of Maintenance:
The goal of this migration is to move the LDAP hosts for ds.fau.edu from the current SUN/Solaris environment to an x86/Linux environment. This change will allow for increased performance and additional high-availability features.
User impact:
Access to utilizing ds.fau.edu will be available intermittently (listed under Affected Services)

Description of Maintenance: We will be replacing our AWstats log analysis with PiWIk

The goal of the change is to update the Active Directory schema for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012

Description of Maintenance: OIT will add group policy objects to the domain for the purpose of opening ports and allowing auto-enrollment of certificates to campus computers to support Endpoint Protection deployment via System Center Configuration Manager

[RESOLVED] NWRDC is currently down

Resolved as of 2:26am…

As of 12:41am –> NWRDC connection is down (NWALT connection is fine). NWR has been called; they are aware of the issue and are looking into it. No estimated time for a resolution to the issue…
