Network:Network upgrade on a switch in bldg 22

The networking department is upgrading an uplink to a switch in building 22 on Friday the 22nd at 5:30 am. Estimated down time will be approximately from 5:30 am to 6:30 am. WebLogic migration to production

The Banner production INB and SSB Web Servers will be migrated from OAS 10g to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (WebLogic) tomorrow morning, Thursday 6/21/2012 between 5:00AM – 7:00AM. Prior to logging into Banner INB or SSB, you will need to clear out the Java cache on your workstation.

The following steps are for clearing out your Java cache:

1. Close down all web browser windows.

2. Go into your workstation’s control panel.

3. In upper right corner of window, select ‘Large icons’ in the drop down options for the ‘View by:’

4. Select ‘Java’

5. In the ‘General’ tab, click the ‘Settings . . . ‘ button in the ‘Temporary Internet Files’ section.

6. Click the ‘Delete Files . . .’ button in the ‘Disk Space’ section.

7. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Delete Temporary Files’ window (both check boxes should be checked).

8. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Temporary Files Settings’ window.

9. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Java Control Panel’ window.

10. Close the ‘Control Panel’ window.

11. Start up your web browser.

Phone upgrades in building 22 on June 21 @ 6:00 pm

On Thursday, June 21st beginning at 6:00 pm, the Communication Infrastructure team will begin upgrading the phones and voice system for IP phones in building 22. This upgrade will cause intermittent interruptions for all telephone service in building 22 between the hours of 6:00 pm through 7:00 am on Friday, June 22.

In case of an emergency during this period, please dial 911 or contact the FAU Police Department at 561-271-5163 from a non-FAU phone.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/21/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:00-7:00 AM
Affected services: Banner INB and SSB
Affected systems: Banner
Description of maintenance: DBA group will migrate Banner INB and SSB Web Servers from OAS 10g to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g
User impact: Banner INB and SSB will be unavailable between 5:00AM and 7:00AM.

When: 3:00-5:00 AM
Affected services: Blackboard, Identity Manager, DHCP, NetReg, PhoneBill, CAS
Affected systems: talonx1, bbm1, bba2, bba6, bbx1, bbx2, lintalon0, idm2, dhcpboc0
Description: Scientific Linux 6.2 updates will be applied to these systems.

When: 5:30-6:00 AM
Affected services: SSO, eCollege, Parature Logins
Affected systems: lintalon0.fau.edu, lintalon1.fau.edu, sso.fau.edu
Description: Central Authentication service will be updated to correct two errors detected by clients. The first problem affects users who previously visited MyFAU and the second prevents web browsers from caching style sheets.
User Impact: CAS will be offline for 10 to 15 minutes. This will prevent users from accessing Owl Apps, Network Registration, Parature, and eCollege.

Jupiter Campus Phone Testing Friday June 22nd 6pm to 9pm

Telecommunications will be testing the phone system on the Jupiter campus on Friday June 22nd from 6pm until 9pm. During this time period there will be intermittent outages to telephones on the Jupiter campus. In case of emergency please use a cellular or non FAU phone to dial 911.
