UPDATE – OIT file server (fauandi1, fauandi2) is currently available

 

All file shares on fauandi1 and fauandi2, including user home directories (M: drives) and departmental share drives, will be unavailable while we preform emergency maintenance on the system. We expect the services to be unavailable for approximately 24 to 48 hours.

Resolved – Widespread system outages affecting Blackboard and other services

Due to hardware failures, several services are currently experiencing outages.  The systems include:

Blackboard

Xitracs

Network Registration

Possible internet connectivity (DNS)

Central Authentication System and services depending on it.

 

OIT is aware of the issue and is working to restore service as soon as possible.

Parature site momentarily was down

The Parature site went down momentarily at approximately 1:45pm today. It was restored and available at 1:58pm.

Echo Service Unavailable

In order to resolve an issue with the posting of course recordings, we must restart the Echo service. Course videos will be unavailable momentarily while we restart the service.  We expect the downtown to be less than 10  minutes for users according to Echo support.

Power outage T-10, T-11

There is a power outage in T-10 and T-11 causing a network outage in both buildings. Physical Plant has been notified. They are currently working on the issue. No ETR at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday, May 16 from 3:00 AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/16/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 6:00-6:30AM
Affected services: Blackboard, Ibiweb, Filelocker
Description of maintenance: A new virtual switch will be put in place to provide high availability on the storage network for virtual systems.
User impact: The following services will be unavailable for a short period of time:
Blackboard
Ibiweb
Filelocker

When: 5:00 – 6:00 AM
Affected Systems: events.fau.edu(fauweb5,fauappsrv2,sql05vs)
Description of Maintenance: EMS, VirtualEMS, and Master Calendar IIS sites, databases, and connectors will be patched and upgraded to their latest versions.
User Impact: Users sessions will be interrupted and they will need to login again.

System Center Updates Modifications:
Description of maintenance: Force systems who may have missed previous defined maintenance windows to install Windows Updates (XP, Vista, 7, and 8) with a deadline. Devices will begin enforcing this policy May 16th at 7 AM after the OIT defined maintenance window.
User impact: Users who have consistently had their systems off during previous OIT maintenance windows may experience temporary reductions in system speed while updates are being installed. Users will receive a message box about restarting their systems. This will continue every month as Microsoft issues updates.
