OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. May 8 from 12:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/08/2014 from 12:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 12:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: Blackboard servers
Description of maintenance: The goal of this upgrade is to install the latest Blackboard service pack. This includes several security improvements as well as the addition of new features and enhancements to blackboard.
User impact: Blackboard will be unavailable during the upgrade.

When: 5:30AM – 6:30AM
Affected services: Symantec Desktop Encryption
Affected systems: Symantec Enterprise Management Servers (SEMS)
Description of maintenance: The goal of this change is to install new release of Symantec Enterprise Management Server (SEMS) on
our VM for Full disc encryption.
User impact: None, Full Disk encrypted machines will continue to function while the SEMS server is down.

When: 4:00AM – 5:00AM
Affected services: Central Authentication System (CAS)
Affected systems: CAS
Description of maintenance: FAU’s web base authentication system will be upgraded to provide additional security features such as Two Factor Authentication, improved user session termination and improved reliability.
User impact: Users may need to refresh their browsers and possibly clear their browser cache.

When: 3:00AM – 4:00AM
Affected services: Authentication System
Affected systems: shibboleth
Description of maintenance: FAU’s web base authentication system will be upgraded to provide additional security features such as Two Factor Authentication, improved user session termination and improved reliability.
User impact: Users may need to refresh their browsers and possibly clear their browser cache.

When: 6:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: Email spam scanners
Affected systems: Ironport
Description of maintenance: We upgrading our email spam scanners to more powerful ones.
User impact: No downtime is expected as the changes will be applied sequentially. Email flow, therefore, should not be interrupted as there will always be one appliance functioning.
