Last Day to Withdraw

November 30th, -0001

Hi Everyone,

Halfway through the semester, how is everything going?

REMEMBER: Friday is the last day to Withdraw from your class(es) without receiving an “F”. Meet with your advisor if you have questions or concerns about your courses!

Midterm grades were posted so make sure you check them! To review the grades that have been submitted for you, log onto your MyFAU account.

Follow the steps below to view your grades:

  1. Log onto your MyFAU account
  2. Click FAU Self-Service
  3. Click Student Services
  4. Click Student Records
  5. Click Midterm Grades
  6. Select the Term (Spring 2013)

Under course work you will see the courses you are registered in and your Midterm grade (if posted by your instructor).

Note:  Midterm grades may not be entered for all classes.  If you are unsure of your progress in a course and do not receive a midterm grade, please consult with your professor(s).

Once you have identified the course where you are earning less than a “C”, here are some suggestions for improving your situation.

  • Speak to your instructor.  Stop in during office hours, call for an appointment, or see them after class. Ask for specific instructions/directions for improving your situation.
  • Meet with your academic advisor to discuss strategies for changing your academic habits.
  • Seek tutorial assistance.  Go to http://www.fau.edu/CLASS/tutoring.php for services at FAU.  Attend Supplemental Instruction Sessions if available for the course.  Many academic departments have study assistance programs (math lab, writing center, etc.), so you may want to check with the department also.
  • Find a study partner or group.  Sometimes finding a peer or group of motivated students can be just the boost you need to get yourself back on track.

REMEMBER: The last day to drop a course without receiving an “F” is Friday, March 1.  NOT ATTENDING CLASS does not automatically drop you from a course.  You can drop your course(s) by using MyFAU.  Dropping a course may jeopardize your academic or financial aid status, so discuss this option with your academic and financial aid advisors first (this is especially true if you are a Bright Futures student). You should be aware that your “F”s and “W”s may be included in the calculation for the “excess hours” surcharge mandated by the Florida legislature.  You should consider seeking the assistance of an advisor before making your decision.

If you have already met with your academic advisor for Spring 2012 advisement please ignore this email. If this is YOUR FIRST SEMESTER (Fall 2011) at Florida Atlantic University and you have earned less than 30 credits, you will have a freshman advising hold (UN) preventing any registration for Spring 2012. 1. In-person Advising by appointment (Currently through November 10th, 2011)

2. Walk–in Advising (November 14th – January 14, 2012)

If you have declared one of the following majors, you must go to the respective department for advising:

11-14-2011     All NCAA athletes & University Honors Program

11-18-2011     Undergraduates (freshman) with 0-29 hours*
