Mentoring makes a difference for new students.
\nHere at FAU, students paired with a mentor had almost a 7% higher retention rate than students without a mentor.<\/p>\n
The Mentoring Project is seeking faculty, staff, and graduate students on the Boca, Jupiter, and Davie campuses who are willing to mentor a new first-year or transfer student. After filling out a brief profile, we match you with a student based on shared academic interests, activities, and goals.<\/p>\n
Not sure you have the experience?
\nPrevious mentees identified \u201can ability to listen\u201d as the most important quality in a mentor. We seek mentors who have finished a bachelor\u2019s degree \u2013 the goal that our undergraduates are working towards.<\/p>\n
Not sure that you have the time?
\nMentors and mentees agree to connect at least once per month during the academic year. In roughly eight hours, you could make a difference in a student\u2019s decision to remain in college.<\/p>\n
