Webex Updates – July 2021

Videoconferencing usage has risen due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Florida Atlantic University (FAU) uses services such as Webex to run meetings, and more. Thus, it is important to stay up to date on the latest Webex changes.

  • Breakout Session Enhancements: Users now have the option to Optimize for motion and video and Share computer audio in Webex Meetings breakout sessions.
  • Layout Optimization: Users can now see more videos when scaling the filmstrip and move other users to the stage from the Participants panel.
  • Sync the Stage from Mobile: Hosts and cohosts on the mobile app can now customize the stage by dragging a participant’s video on to the  stage area and syncing the stage for everyone in the meeting to see.
  • Moderated Unmute Mode: Hosts and cohosts can directly unmute participants.
  • Web App – Full-Screen View: The Web app now includes full-screen view allowing users to maximize the view of the stage within their browser.
  • Animated in-meeting reactions with Gesture Control: Users can now express themselves non-verbally through in-meeting reactions.
  • Improved End-to-End Encryption: Mobile will also support Zero Trust Security for Webex Meetings and Webex Room Devices.
