This article is part of a series of posts aimed at informing our Florida Atlantic community about Canvas’s upcoming Discussions/Announcements redesign. Effective July 20, 2024, the redesign will introduce visual changes along with new features to improve the overall accessibility and functionality of the tool.
Our previous post mentioned a couple of these new features and included steps for you to preview them by enabling the update in your course’s settings. For reference, we’re adding those steps again at the end of this article.
Before you make any changes to your courses, though, check out Instructure’s video overview linked below for a visual preview of what’s in store for the redesign.
To activate these enhancements prior to the enforcement date in any of your courses:
- Open any of your courses in Canvas
- Click the Settings link in the navigation menu
- Click the Feature Options tab
- Click the red X icon to the right of the Discussions/Announcements Redesign option
- Click Enabled to turn the feature on.
