A recent study found that plagiarism among students jumped by 10 percentage points after the pandemic, when classes went online \u2014 an increase in the average rate of copying in student work from 35 percent to 45 percent.  Instructors find themselves under greater pressure to of deter these kinds of academic infidelity in the digital realm.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">What measures can <em>YOU <\/em>take to avoid plagiarism and ensure integrity in the online classroom?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-1 wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/fau.edu\/canvas\/Files\/createTurnitinAssignment_10-25-2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Use a plagiarism prevention tool such as Turnitin<\/a> to check similarity reports in your students&#8217; submissions<\/li><li>Keep an open dialogue with your students, and suggest that they use a<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.turnitin.com\/products\/features\/draft-coach\" target=\"_blank\"> pre-submission writing tool like Draft Coach<\/a> to help reduce similarity BEFORE submitting assignments<\/li><li>Help your students leverage FAU resources like the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fau.edu\/ucew\/\" target=\"_blank\">University Center for Excellence in Writing (UCEW)<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">We encourage you to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/techevents.fau.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">browse our calendar of training events<\/a>, or <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/techevents.fau.edu\/appointments\/online\" target=\"_blank\">book a consultation one of our experts<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Digital teaching and learning are more prevalent than ever before.
