The wireless network “fauguest” is now working properly.
OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM
Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 02/14/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:
When: 5:30 AM – 7:00 AM
Affected services: Banner, MyFAU, CAS, IDM, ODS, Blackboard, Appworx
Affected systems: Bannerprd, Banoradev, Bbloracle, Bbloraclealt, Boc22ora01, Boc22ora02, Boc22ora03, Mcoracle, Modena, Odsprod, Odstest
Description of maintenance: Update the disk and shelf firmware on production NetApp filers (bocana01/bocana02). Also, update the Service Processor firmware.
User impact: We do not expect any end-user impact; however, the systems/services liste above could be affected if something does go wrong.
When: 5:00 – 5:30 AM

Description of Maintenance: Update the parature authentication module to prevent duplicate user accounts.
User Impact: This minor change will result in 5 – 10 minutes of downtime during which users will not be able to login to helpdesk.fau.edu.
When: 5:45 – 6:00 AM

Affected Systems: Blackboard
Description of Maintenance: Update the My Information building block to include additional details.
User Impact: The building block will not display for a few seconds while we install the update.
When: 3:00 – 5:30 AM

Description of Maintenance: Migrate two virtual machine servers from the Dell cluster to the HP cluster to improve reliability.
User Impact: None expected as all services are load balanced.
When: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM
Affected services: Travel & Expense, Effort, Workflow, PCI Payment Gateway
Description of maintenance: Update Java SDK.
User impact: Services liste above may be unavailable during the maintenance. If “Page not Found” is displayed, please try again after 7:00AM.

Description of Maintenance: Update Macmillan Building Block to allow synchronization with the Blackboard Grade Center.
User Impact: Users may be unable to connect to Macmillan Content during the update.

Description of maintenance: Student IntComp 8.0.2.4 patch will be installed in Banner production
User impact: No user impact is expected
When: 3:00 – 6:00 AM

Description of Maintenance: The systems group will be migrating these virtual machines from HVCLUSTER to boc22hvclust01.

Intermittent Blackboard Grade Center issues
Some instructors are experiencing errors when attempting to access the Grade Center in their course. We are currently working with Blackboard to resolve this issue. For details on how to resolve the problem please visit the Known Issues Module within Blackboard.

resolved – network outage affecting one switch in building 22
We experienced a network switch outage that affected one data switch in building 22. The switch outage was from 1:42 pm through 1:47 pm. The issue has been resolved.

Exchange and Firewall Modifications
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve performance of MS Exchange, on Sunday, January 20 between 3:00 am and 6:00 am additional system will be added to the Exchange cluster. Users will experience intermittent connectivity issues during this period.
On Monday, Jan 21 from 3:00 am to 6:00 am, FAU core firewall will be receiving patch upgrade. This may cause intermittent network outage.
