Cans for Cites – 2016 Holiday Season

WHAT: Pay for FAU Parking Citations with non-perishable canned goods. For every can brought in, a $5 credit will go toward the citation. For example, have a $25 citation? Pay with five cans! Exclusions apply. See Rules below for details. Canned food collected will benefit FAU’s Beyond Food Program and Boca Helping Hands. WHERE: Parking & Transportation Services, Boca Raton Campus, Student Support Services, Bldg. 80

RULES: Applicable Citations: Citations $25.00 or less (i.e. no permit, back-in parking, etc.)
Excluded Citations: Citations with a fee $50.00 or more (i.e. hazardous parking, fire lane, loading, reserved, disabled, etc.); Citations for parking on grass/ sidewalk/ crosswalk, late citations.

Any citations meeting the criteria and issued during the program dates must be paid off with the non-perishable canned good by 5 p.m., Friday, December 9. Valid for one (1) citation per student.

Adjusted Office Hours – 2016 Holiday Season

In anticipation of the 2016 Holiday season, Parking and Transportation has adjusted hours on the following dates:

November 10th: Closing at 5pm

November 11th: CLOSED (Veterans Day)

November 23rd: Closing at 5pm

November 24th-25th: CLOSED (Thanksgiving)

December 26th: CLOSED (Christmas Day *Observed)

December 27th-30th: CLOSED (Winter Break)

January 2nd: CLOSED (New Year’s Day *Observed)

Our office will reopen Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 8:00 am.

Parking News – Board of Governors Visit

The Florida Board of Governors will be visiting the FAU Boca Raton Campus on Wednesday, November 3rd and Thursday, November 4th. The following areas will be reserved for the event and will therefore be unavailable for parking:

Volusia Street: All parking on Volusia Street will be unavailable

Garage 1: 1st Floor; 2nd Floor (up & down ramps only)

Garage 3: 1st Floor

This temporary change does not apply to reserved and disabled spaces.

Alternative Parking: Lot 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, & 15

Partial Lot Closure – Lot 10

There will be construction taking place in the northwest section of lot 10 from October 15th to October 29th causing a temporary detour around the Burrow and Track & Field.

Hurricane Matthew – Parking Update

Due to Hurricane Matthew, all resident students staying on the Boca Raton Campus for the duration of the storm are encouraged to park in: Garage 1 (Levels 1-5) or Garage 2 (Levels 2-5).

Green permits may park in these areas without being cited until 6:00 am on Wednesday, October 12th.

All other parking rules will still be in effect. Parking on the grass, walkways, sidewalks, or along curbs is not permitted.

Important Notice: Late Payments

Effective immediately, all late payments for citations (over 14 days) must be completed online.

To make an online payment, use the following steps:

1. Login to myFAU.

2. Click the “Money Matters” tab. (Faculty/Staff click the “Staff” tab)

3. Click the Parking and Transportation Services link in the bottom right corner of the page. (Top center for Faculty/Staff)

4. Click “Pay Citations”.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Payments can be made via computer or mobile device.

Welcome Owls – 2016 Fall Semester

Move in was a success!

During that time we allowed vehicles to park in areas for the day to access residence halls with ease. We also allowed students to park in lots without a permit the first two weeks of the semester. We did these as a courtesy to you, to make the transition into the new semester much easier.

Beginning Tuesday, September 6th, we are resuming our normal parking routine and enforcement of all parking violations. Below we’ve outlined some important tips and reminders for you so you can avoid receiving a citation.

Commuter students: Park in blue lots. You may park in red lots between 6:00pm and 6:00am, unless otherwise posted. Do not park in lot 40 (PBSC) between 11:00pm and 6:00am.

Resident students: Park in green lots. You may park in blue and red lots between 6:00pm and 6:00am, unless otherwise posted. Do not park in lot 40 (PBSC) at any time.

We’ve also included a quick parking guide, noting the most common parking violations.

ZipCar Addition – Davie Campus

Attention students of FAU Davie — As of Friday, August 19th, 2016, Zipcar is available on the Davie campus! The Zipcar vehicle is located in parking Lot J, on the west side of the Student Union building and is parked in a designated parking space with a clearly marked sign.

Zipcar is alternative to bringing a car to school. It gives members 24/7 access to vehicles parked on campus with low hourly ($7.50/hr) and daily ($69/day) rates that includes gas, insurance, and 180 miles per day to go wherever you want to go. Members can reserve cars online or with a smartphone for as little as an hour or up to seven days.

Parking Update – Tue 8/2 – Wed 8/3

Weather permitting, on the morning of Tuesday, August 2nd, Lot 14 and Lot 15 will undergo restriping. Therefore, these lots will be closed and unavailable for parking for several hours. Please remove all vehicles in these lots no later than the evening of Monday, August 1st.

Restriping will also be taking place in Lot 13 and Lot 23 (Living Room Theater) on the morning of Wednesday, August 3rd. These lots will be closed and unavailable for parking for several hours. Please remove all vehicles in these lots no later than the evening of Tuesday, August 2nd.

NOTE: Only the Living Room Theater parking area of Lot 23 will be closed. Residents will still be able to park in the designated sections of Lot 23.

Traffic Advisory – 2016 Summer Commencement

The University will mark the end of the 2016 Summer Semester with commencement ceremony on August 9th. The commencement ceremony will be held in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium on the Boca Raton Campus.

Traffic will be especially heavy on that day of graduation, particularly at the Glades Road entrance along West University Drive. Parking Lot 16, located directly in front of the Student Union, will be reserved for disabled and VIP access for ceremony attendees only. Please note that on graduation day, Lot 16 will be considered a reserved lot and not available for use by permit holders and will instead be designated for graduates and guests only.

Parking and Transportation Services and the FAU Police Department are requesting that all staff, faculty and students who work in Buildings Student Support Services (80), Student Union buildings (31 and 31A-E), and Housing (46) park in Lots 17, 19, 20 or Parking Garage One on Volusia Street.

Employees working in buildings 80, 46 and 31 with valid disabled placards will be able to park in Lot 16. Please access the parking lot using the south-east entrance off of Dade Avenue. When approaching the parking lot, please have your disabled parking permit visible for verification upon entry to the lot.

Parking Garage 2 will be temporarily closed from Monday, July 25th to Friday, July 29th for lighting renovations.

Parking will still be available in the following lots: Lot 1, Lot 25, Lot 27, Lot 28.
