At the end of the Spring 2019 semester, we enabled the New Canvas Gradebook and installed a couple of new tools for in-course badging and videoconferencing. New Canvas Gradebook
If you’ve looked at a Canvas gradebook in the last week, you may have already noticed the switch to the new version. Along with updates to its general interface, the new gradebook features functions for adjusting late policies for your assignments, grade statuses, and filtering/sorting options. Badgr
Another tool that we recently installed across all courses in Canvas is Badgr. This tool allows you to assign badges for completing modules within a Canvas course. Simply group your course content into modules and click on the “Badges” link in the course’s navigation menu. You’ll have to create an account in order to upload and design badges. Once that is done, you’ll be able to choose a badge issuer in your course and begin to assign badges to your course’s modules.

Cisco Webex Education Connector
The WebEx integration in Canvas has changed. WebEx’s new Education Connector, which replaces “MEETS for WebEx,” has been installed. This new integration will allow students and instructors to have a more streamlined WebEx experience. Look for “Cisco Webex” in your course menu.
“Meets for WebEx” will retire on May 10, 2019.
New features include:
- WebEx Education Connector, called “Cisco WebEx” in your course menu
- Remember to update your course and syllabus wording; MEETS for WebEx should simply become WebEx.
- An Office Hour Scheduler so you can conduct online office hours easily
- WebEx Teams, which allows your students an easy way to connect and do group work
You still have access to all your current favorite WebEx features.
