Videoconferencing continues to be highly in demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Florida Atlantic University (FAU) depends on services such as Zoom to run meetings and hold or attend online classes. As a result, it is important to stay up to date on the latest Zoom changes.
These are the updates you can expect:
- Support for gender pronouns: Users’ gender pronouns can now be displayed in their contact card and as part of their display name in meetings and webinars. To enable this feature, log in to fau-edu.zoom.us to customize your profile. For more instructions refer to this document on customizing your profile.
- Improved iPad visual experience: There have been various enhancements for Zoom mobile app on iPads, which take advantage of the additional screen space and more.
- Secure share with window filtering: Additional screen capture mode that prevents background information, such as windows seen when minimizing a window and maximizing another, from being unintentionally shared.
- Share screen to all Breakout Rooms: Hosts or co-hosts can now share their screen to all active Breakout Rooms. To do this in your Zoom sessions, click the “Share Screen” button and then click the “Share to breakout rooms” box. For more info, check out this article.
- Improvements to chat sidebar: Various improvements to the chat sidebar such as quick access icons for @me mentions, bookmarked messages, files, and contact requests.
- Record and send a voice message support for Linux: Users can now record and send a voice message to another user or a channel.
- Enhanced data privacy notification for chat channels with enhanced chat encryption: Channel members are provided additional information regarding what information can be seen by others.
