Feature Spotlight: Import Zoom Meetings in Canvas

Posted on Posted in Quick How-To, Tips and Tricks, Zoom

By creating Zoom meetings within the Zoom tool in your Canvas courses, you can ensure that they are seamlessly associated with the correct course. However, if you happen to create a meeting in the FAU Zoom Web Portal, don’t worry! You can still import the Meeting ID to have it appear in Canvas. Here are a few steps.

How to import meetings

  1. Sign in to Canvas – https://canvas.fau.edu
  2. Go to the course where you wish to add to your meeting.
  3. Click on the Zoom tool.
  4. Click on the three vertical dots button to pull up additional options.
  5. Click Import Meeting.
  6. Enter the meeting ID and click Import. The meeting will now show up under the Upcoming Meetings tab of the Zoom tool in your course.

Likewise, removing a Zoom meeting from a Canvas course is a quick and easy process that doesn’t require deleting the meeting entirely. These solutions can help you easily manage you Zoom meetings and keep your courses organized.

How to disassociate meetings

  1. Sign in to Canvas – https://canvas.fau.edu
  2. Go to the course you wish to remove your meeting.
  3. Navigate to the Zoom tool.
  4. Copy the target meeting ID.
  5. Click on the three vertical dots to draw up the additional actions.
  6. Click Disassociate Meeting and enter the meeting ID.
  7. Click Disassociate to confirm your removal. The meeting will no longer be in the tool.

Please keep in mind that the meeting will still be available in the host’s Meetings tab in the FAU Zoom Web Portal and the All My Meetings tab in the Zoom tool.
