Record Quick Videos With Microsoft Stream

Posted on Posted in New Tool, Updates

Are you looking for a way to create short videos of your screen and camera? Or maybe you need to recommend a way for your students to submit videos easily to Canvas assignments and discussions? If so, Microsoft Stream is the video recording tool for you.

Stream is completely web-based, meaning there’s no extra software to install. It runs from your web-browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and integrates with your FAU Microsoft account, making your recordings easily shareable with your colleagues and students. The platform also incorporates different video and camera effects (background replacement, annotations and more) along with basic editing functions (trimming and cutting) empowering you to personalize your content as necessary. Lastly, because Microsoft 365 has a Canvas integration, you can easily share these files in your Canvas courses through any discussion/assignment/page’s rich content editor.

Although its feature-set is robust and versatile, please note that the current maximum length of Microsoft Stream recordings is 15 minutes. The platform’s main purpose is to create short, effective videos while storing and sharing them through the cloud. If you require software for longer-format content, reach out to our team for more information.

To access and start using Stream, go to the Microsoft Stream application page and sign in with your FAU email address. For detailed instructions or assistance on how to create and share recordings, check out the resources we’ve outlined below:
