IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

Students have until Monday, September 3, to register for their parking permits. During this period, students may park in blue/green lots without a registered permit, however all other violations will be enforced. These measures are a courtesy to help you acclimate and transition to the fall semester.

Beginning Tuesday, September 4, we will resume our normal parking routine and enforcement of all parking violations. Below are some important tips and reminders to avoid receiving a citation.

  • Commuter students: Park in blue lots. You may park in red lots between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., unless otherwise posted. Do not park in lot 40 (PBSC) at any time.
  • Resident students: Park in green lots. You may park in blue and red lots between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., unless otherwise posted. Do not park in lot 40 (PBSC) at any time.
  • Shuttle Services: Parking and Transportation Services provides a free on-campus shuttle service designed to help move people quickly around campus. The shuttle operates every 10 minutes. Arrival times at shuttle stops is available in real-time via the ETA Spot app. The app is available for a free download for Android and iPhone devices.

We have numerous resources and services available. They can be found on our website at www.fau.edu/parking.

The maximum speed limit on all FAU campuses is 25 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted. The maximum speed limit in parking lots is 10 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted.

Redevelopment of Parking Garage III

Permanent Closure of Level I — 210 Spaces

At midnight Aug. 9, the first level of Parking Garage III will close permanently to make way for an expansion of academic programs of the College of Business, to provide general classrooms, student services, and academic tutoring spaces to help promote student success.

All cars must be removed by midnight Aug. 9. Level I will be fully closed for parking by Aug. 10. Any cars remaining after midnight Aug. 9 will be towed to the north end of Parking Lot 5.

During construction, Level II of the garage will experience some temporary closures. This work will be completed during off-peak times whenever possible. However, all users of the garage should exercise caution when entering and exiting as traffic patterns may periodically change.

The project is scheduled to be complete during fall 2019.

FAU Shuttle Service

To help alleviate the loss of these spaces, the frequency of shuttle service will be increased for alternative parking areas available on the Boca Raton campus. There will be 11,373 spaces on the Boca Raton campus after the closure of Parking Garage III Level I.

FAU operates three shuttle routes on the Boca Raton campus. CLICK HERE for more information on shuttle services.

Depending on the route, services begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and end at 4:45 p.m. Fridays. The shuttle service does not operate during weekends.

Following the closure of Parking Garage III Level I, shuttle services will operate every 10 minutes. Arrival times at shuttle stops is available in real-time via the ETA Spot app. The app is available for a free download for Android and iPhone devices.

Additional information about these changes will be made available as necessary. CLICK HERE for general parking information from FAU Parking and Transportation Services, or call or email 561-297-2771, faupark@fau.edu.

Drivers can now exit both directions of I-95 at Spanish River Boulevard. The new exit gives FAU students and other commuters an alternative to sitting in traffic at the Glades Road exit that routinely backed up onto I-95. Less traffic? Yay!

FAU Visitor Parking Gets High Tech Upgrade

FAU Parking and Transportation Services is pleased to announce that visitor parking will soon get a high tech upgrade. In early 2018, new meters will be placed throughout all of FAU’s campuses.

Visitors will now Pay by Plate. Pay by Plate takes three simple steps. Customers park, walk up to the nearest Pay by Plate machine, punch in their license plate number, and make their payment. This new technology will also allow parking enforcement officers to scan a license plate and immediately view their paid/unpaid status. The new meter increase will start once they are installed.
While FAU was able to maintain low visitor parking rates for 15 years, this new technology will result in increased fees. Temporary Visitor Permits will cost $5/day, $15/week, $30/month, and meters $2/hour. The new prices will take effect on January 1.

For Department Guests who purchase a 1-day scratch off temporary permit via Journal or P-Card, those prices will still be $2.

For details, please visit www.fau.edu/parking. More news is coming from Parking and Transportation Services! We promise you will love it!
