Recently, Respondus added Screen Recording to the Monitor settings for LockDown Browser exams. While LockDown Browser does the majority of the work by limiting computer functions and preventing students from opening other applications during an exam, the screen recording feature provides an added level of security for your remotely proctored Canvas assessments. It allows you to take a look at what your students view during your exams, further deterring them from violating the academic integrity and exam policies of your course.
To use this feature, start by enabling Respondus Monitor (recorded webcam proctoring) for your Canvas quiz. After students take the exam, the results table within the LockDown Browser tool in your Canvas course will show both the webcam video feed and a screen recording for each student who took the exam.
*Please Note* – The screen recording feature does not yet work for students using iPads to take LockDown Browser exams. These students will be able to access and take the exam, but a screen recording will not appear in their results. If you’d like to absolutely require the screen recording function, disable the “allow students to take this exam with an iPad” option under the Advanced Settings menu within the LockDown Browser Settings for the exam.
