First Saturday

Owl Involved and First Saturday in Paradise serve as the kickoff event to our exciting Red and Blue Weeks on campus. Red and Blue Weeks are intended to help incoming students begin to paint their Owl story. Students who attend First Saturday can expect to build greater affinity with the University and get immediately connected to campus resources.

This year, First Saturday will take place on August 17 at 8 p.m. at the Howard Schnellenberger Field of FAU Stadium. We are inviting our students and the local community to be a part of something special as 200 drones take to the sky in a custom paradise-themed show to close out our weekend together and kick off your Florida Atlantic journey. If you want to view the drone show, please arrive at 8:30 p.m. to be loaded into the endzone for show seating. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. The drone show will immediately follow the First Saturday program for our incoming students, with a scheduled start time of 9 p.m.

QEP 20-Minute Information Sessions

Dear Colleagues:

IMPORTANT: QEP 20-Minute Information Sessions

Next week Florida Atlantic will undergo our 10-year on-site re-accreditation review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). An integral component of this accreditation review is evaluation of the institution’s Quality Enhancement Plan or QEP. During the visit, reviewers may ask students, faculty, or staff about the QEP titled: Education Reimagined: Engaging Students through Peer-Assisted Learning. It is essential that all members of the community are familiar with the QEP.

If you would like to learn more, please join us for one of three 20-minute online QEP information sessions:
Tuesday, March 26 3 – 3:20 p.m.
Wednesday, March 27 11 – 11:20 a.m.
Thursday, March 28 10 – 10:20 a.m.

For security purposes, register for the session you select by clicking the date/time and the Zoom link will be emailed to you.

These sessions will be 10 minutes of information about the QEP, followed by your questions. We hope people throughout the university community are excited about the new plans at FAU to engage and excite students in the learning process through course redesign with the LA model. For additional information, visit www.fau.edu/QEP. For questions or accommodations, email qep@fau.edu.

Sincerely,   Brittanney Adelmann, Ph.D.
