FAU Flags at Half-Staff on Feb. 5 in Memory of Barbara Chapman and Paulina Chiriboga
Barbara Chapman passed away December 24, 2017. She was a long-time FAU employee who served international students for more than 25 years. As the Program Assistant in the Intensive English Institute, she helped countless students from around the world. Barbara was a trusted colleague known for her calm demeanor and quiet confidence, and for her tireless dedication to the students.
Paulina “Pabis” Chiriboga passed away January 23, 2018, at the age of 21. She was planning to graduate from FAU in May and start medical school in the fall. Paulina was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She loved helping people, especially children with autism.
In accordance with University policy, FAU flags are lowered on the first Monday of every month to honor the memory of members of the University community who passed away during the previous month.
Accounting Career Fair, Jan. 22
The FAU Career Center presents the Accounting Career Fair. FAU students and alumni looking for internship or job opportunities in the accounting industry are encouraged to attend. The fair will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Student Union, Live Oak Pavilion.

Graduate Open House
Faculty Curriculum Grants Program Pre-Proposal Deadline: Nov. 6
Due to Hurricane Irma, the application deadline for the Curriculum Grants Program pre-proposal has been extended to November 6, 2017. This program provides seed funding for incorporating research and inquiry practices into the undergraduate curriculum. The program supports revisions to upper and lower division courses. Grants are available for multiple courses in a program, single courses, and even for faculty who want to integrate a single assignment in their course. This program is designed to accommodate all disciplines across the University.

Topics include creating a culture of student success, mindful academic leadership, budgeting, promotion and tenure, obtaining administrative assignments, and getting organized. FAU to Host Events in Honor of Women’s History Month
Florida Atlantic University will celebrate Women’s History Month with a series of events throughout the month of March at its Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Davie campuses. All events are open only to FAU students, faculty and staff unless otherwise noted.

Game vs. UAB 7 p.m – FAU Arena
Faculty and staff and their guests will enjoy free drinks, tailgate refreshments, games, prizes and admission to the game. Free admission is limited to first one-hundred attendees. Additional tickets are available at $3. Children are welcome!

FAU Excellence in eLearning Awards
The FAU Excellence in eLearning Awards celebrate FAU faculty and administrators’ dedication to excellence, innovation, and student success in online education. Full-time and Adjunct Faculty Award recipients will each receive a Certificate of Recognition and $1,000 stipend. Leadership Award recipient will receive a Certificate of Recognition and $2,500 stipend. Deadline March 20, 2017
