The Accounting Career and Internship Fair is occurring on Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Recreation & Fitness Center on the Boca Raton campus. Representatives from industry-leading accounting firms and organizations will be in attendance to share with students various opportunities in accounting and accounting-related positions. The Student Talon Award Nominations
The Student Talon Award is an honor bestowed annually at the Homecoming Talon Award Reception to a student who exemplifies exceptional leadership and service to the University. FAU faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate students for this prestigious award. Nominations can be made directly on Owl Central
along with a letter of recommendation that includes specific contributions made in the area of leadership.

Film Screening of ‘U-Turn: A Transformational Journey’
The Wilkes Honors College, sponsored by the Peace, Justice and Human Rights Initiative, will host a screening of the film, “U-Turn” by film producer and director, Luis Argueta. The documentary tells the story of a group of Guatemalan immigrant women and children, who bravely spoke out about abuses they suffered at an agricultural plant. “U-Turn” is an educational, awareness and advocacy tool about the reality of migration, and the rights of migrants. Support Group for the FAU Community

Florida Atlantic University is a community that is both local and national reaching. With recent deaths by survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Sandy Hook, the community of FAU has experienced a hard-hitting impact. the news of these deaths may trigger strong reactions or memories that may be affecting you now. If this is the case for you, please take care of the basics for yourself or those around you and practice self-care more than usual. Be sure to prioritize your mental health right now.
If things seem more difficult than usual, reach out for help. FAU Counseling and Psychological Services will be offering a drop-in support group Wednesday, March 27 from 2 – 3 p.m. for anyone within FAU who might want to come together, discuss concerns, or get support. Walk-in crisis visits are available during our regular business hours, as well as, telephone crisis counseling available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling us at 561-297-3540.
FAU Americas Initiative Public Programs
The FAU Americas Initiative presents a series of public programs on Visualizing Decolonization. All events are free to faculty and staff. The Women’s Leadership Institute
The 4 th Annual Women’s Leadership Institute, taking place on March 15, 2019, strives to raise awareness on issues women face in leadership and to provide opportunities for students. The theme for this year’s conference is “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence.” The major topics include “Women Impacting Change,” “Know Your Worth,” and “Career Women.” Proposal submissions for programs, vendors, and posters will be accepted until January 4 th , 2019. Updated University Policies
Please be advised that FAU recently updated five University policies in the areas of:
Waiver of Tuition and Fees: A new policy that consolidates waivers being offered throughout the University.
Religious Accommodations for Employees: A new policy addressing religious accommodations for employees.
Cloud Service Providers: A new policy delineating the requirements for cloud service providers.
Social Media: Amendments to an existing policy updating outdated references and positions.
Acceptable Use of Technology Resources: Amendments to an existing policy clarifying that the limitations on auto-texting without approval are for marketing and recruitment.

Theatre Lab’s Playwright’s Forum Masterclass
During October, Theatre Lab will once again welcome some of the nation’s most notable playwrights to share readings of their newest plays followed by a discussion about the work, their process, and the importance new-play development. In addition, on the Monday prior to the reading, playwrights will offer a 90-minute workshop designed to guide participants through the various stages of playwriting. Participants in the Master-Class Series will be encouraged to utilize the series to develop their own short plays. The short plays developed as part of this series will be eligible for submission to Theatre Lab’s New Play Festival – an opportunity for budding and established playwrights to see their work produced onstage at Theatre Lab!
