Disruptive Network Maintenance – Sunday September 22nd from 6:00a.m. until 8:00a.m.

OIT will be performing network maintenance  on Sunday September 22nd from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00a.m. During this time many services will be intermittently unavailable including, but not limited to, Blackboard, Wireless, Echo360, MyFAU, Exchange Email, Banner, VPN and streaming course lectures.

Slow Network Performance – Emergency Network Maintenance @ 4:00p.m. – 4:10p.m.

FAU has been informed by our ISP about extremely high traffic load due to the recent release of Apple iOS 7. FAU has noticed a 2-3x increase in traffic load occurring around noon. Due to the increased load, many services including the Wireless network, Banner, MyFAU, Exchange, Echo360, Blackboard, and streaming media are experiencing significantly degraded performance.  OIT is preparing to implement an emergency change to relieve the performance issues at 4:00 p.m. today.  At 4:00p.m., the FAU wireless network will have a short period of downtime with a potential disruption of other services within FAU.

[Completed] Network Maintenance Saturday September 14th 6:00a.m. until 7:30a.m.

The network maintenance scheduled for Saturday September 14th from 6:00a.m. until 7:30a.m. has been completed. During the maintenance, internet connectivity was interrupted for approximately 2 minutes around 6:10a.m.

Resolved: Delay on incoming email from outside FAU

We are encountering some issues with our incoming email scanners.  This may be causing a slight delay.  Currently working on the problem.

[Resolved] Intermittent Network Connectivity issues for Comcast users

We have been informed by our ISP that the issues with network connectivity for Comcast users has been resolved as of 5:44p.m. There was an equipment failure at an upstream provider. We have performed some preliminary tests and the issue appears to be resolved.

[Update] Intermittent Network Connectivity issues for Comcast users

Our ISP has discovered an issue with Internet2, one of our upstream service providers. Issues with Internet2 are affecting several services including slow access to services hosted by Amazon Web Services and connections to and from Comcast users. These issues are affecting several universities in Florida. We will provide additional updates as we receive them from our ISP.

FAU’s Internet Service Provider is looking into the issues regarding Comcast users being able to access FAU services.  We will post updates as we have more information.

[Resolved] Intermittent issues affecting connectivity to Blackboard and MyFAU

OIT staff identified an issue with some of the systems that MyFAU, Blackboard, and the FAU homepage are dependent upon and has taken corrective actions. We believe the issues experienced tonight are resolved but will continue to test and monitor the situation.

Intermittent issues affecting connectivity to Blackboard and MyFAU

OIT has been receiving reports of slowness and inability to access Blackboard, MyFAU, and the FAU website starting shortly before 5:00p.m. today. OIT staff is currently researching the issue and hopes to have all services restored to normal operation shortly.
