[Service Restored] Davie Campus Power Outage Second Floor of Education an Science Building

There is a power outage in the Davie Campus second floor networking closet that is causing data and wireless network to be down for users in the surrounding area. Facilities is aware of the issue and physical plant is deploying technicians to restore service.

Wireless network upgrades on July 8 – 10 and July 15 – 17 between 5:00 am and 6:00 am

OIT will be performing upgrades and enhancements to the wireless network segments between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. beginning on Monday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 10, and Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 17. During the maintenance windows, there will be a 15-20 minute disruption to the fau, fauwpa2, fauguest, and eduroam wireless networks. Expected campus upgrades are as follows:

Monday, July 8: Fort Lauderdale, Davie, and Harbor Branch campuses will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks.
Tuesday, July 9: Jupiter campus will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks.
Wednesday, July 10: Security enhancements will be applied to the campus locations listed above. The security enhancements will include a new digital certificate for the fauwpa2 network. All users will be prompted to accept the new certificate.

Monday – Wednesday, July 15 – 17: Portions of the Boca Raton Campus will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks. Security enhancements will also be applied during this time. The security enhancements will include a new digital certificate for the fauwpa2 network. All users will be prompted to accept the new certificate.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. May 23 from 3:00AM to 7:00AMm

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/23/2019 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Description of change: OIT will be moving backend NetApp storage to two new switches
Downtime window start: 2:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: ALL SERVICES WILL BE UNAVAILABLE except the following:
DNS
LDAP
DHCP
Single Sign On
Active Directory
Main FAU web page
Expected End-user impact: During this time, most services except the ones mentioned above will be unavailable for a few hours.

Single Sign On Maintenance for Testing Center
Description of change: OIT is updating the single sign on (SSO) system to improve the user experience in the testing center. ​
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Single Sign On and all dependent services
Affected systems: Shibboleth
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected. After the change, single-sign on will not prompt for 2Factor when users access Canvas from the testing center.

Description of change: Updating student queries file in uAchieve production.
Downtime window start: 6:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:30 AM
Affected services: uAchieve production
Affected systems: uAchieve server
Expected End-user impact: During this time, the uAchieve degree auditing/planning system will be unavailable.

Description of change: OIT will make changes to reduce the complexity of UDCID generation in Banner by removing Banner Enterprise Identity Services and replacing with database triggers.

Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected.

Storage Switch Replacement – Thurs. May 23 from 2:00AM – 6:00AM

OIT will be doing a much needed storage switch replacement during our regular maintenance window on Thursday, May 23 from 2:00AM to 6:00AM.  The maintenance will be disruptive in nature and will affect most, if not all, servers (physical/virtual) and services that OIT manages. 

Critical services such as DNS, DHCP, SSO, AD as well as cloud based services such as TeamDynamix, Workday and Canvas will be online.  OIT will update this post when maintenance is complete or should any issues arise during this time.

Network maintenance on Saturday March 16 – Sunday March 17 from 11:30 pm – 6:00 am

OIT will be performing emergency network maintenance beginning on Saturday, March 16 from 11:30 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 17. Due to the nature of the maintenance, users may experience intermittent network outages lasting approximately 30 minutes during this window.

OIT will be performing network maintenance on Sunday March 10th from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. During this time, the Boca Raton campus may experience periods of short network interruptions affecting access to the internet and to services located on the Boca Raton campus.

Network Maintenance – Early Morning Sunday March 3rd through Friday March 8th

OIT will be performing network maintenance between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. during the spring break week, Sunday March 3rd through Friday March 8th. During this two-hour window each day, network connectivity may be intermittent for short periods of time. Expected campus network disruptions are as follows:

Monday, March 4th – Fort Lauderdale, Davie, and Harbor Branch campuses will experience a network outage lasting approximately 20 minutes during the window

Tuesday, March 5th – Jupiter and NWRDC will experience a network outage lasting approximately 20 minutes during the window

Wednesday, March 6th – The BHRIC network on the Boca Raton campus will be unavailable for approximately 20 minutes

In addition to the specific impacts noted above, specific network segments or hosts may experience brief disruptions during the remainder of the maintenance windows, although major services are expected to be operating normally.
