OIT Systems Maintenance

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 07/11 and Saturday, 7/13/2024 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Data Center Storage Maintenance (Netapp Production Cluster)
Description of change: OIT is performing maintenance on the Netapp Production Cluster to prepare for upgrades.

Downtime window end: 07/11/2024 6:30 AM
Affected services: Work is only being performed on one of the two redundant switches, so no downtime is expected but there is a potential to affect all services dependent on NetApp storage, including major ones, such as: Banner, Oracle Identity Manager (OIM), Andi Shares, Ibiweb, MSSQL databases and services dependent on those, Network Registration, Grouper, Owlapps, Edocs, and Papercut to name a few.
End-user impact: End-user impact is not expected. However, if any issues occur during maintenance, services may be impacted.


PeopleFirst Integration Update
Description of change: OIT is making changes to the PeopleFirst integration update to resolve reported issue (Hospitalization deductions were taken multiple times)

Slate Decision Codes and Attributes Crosswalks For Decisioning in Banner
Description of change: OIT have created a process to load attributes or contact types in the process of decision posting from Slate to Banner.

Database Server Change
Description of change: This multiphase efforts to reestablish dataguard. In this phase OIT will make configuration changes and restart the portion of the application.

VPN Management Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on the Advanced VPN infrastructure from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday July 13th. During this time, there may be periods of time where newly installed Advanced VPN clients may be unable to obtain configuration. This maintenance should not affect the use of Advanced or Basic VPN.

Affected services: Advanced VPN
End-user impact: We anticipate inimal end user impact limited to any user that installs the advanced VPN client for the first time. There will be a period of time during the maintenance where new clients will be unable to get a license or a configuration file. Existing clients will work while the server is under maintenance.

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


BHRIC storage maintenance
Description of change: Research Computing will be performing maintenance on the SAN for BHRIC. During this time there is no expected user impact. However, https://vdi.fau.edu, servers on https://health-vcenter , REDCAP may experience some slowness while the updates are running.

Affected services: All services that run in BHRIC. This includes https://vdi.fau.edu, SHS servers, EDU servers, file shares form \health.ad.fau.edu\bhric and boc22-nas2.health.ad.fau.edu
End-user impact: No expected impact from the update. However, there may be some slowness on the BHRIC Servers during this time.


Non-Degree Acceptance Email Update
Description of change: OIT is fixing grammatical errors in the Non-email Acceptance Email.

End-user impact: No end user impact is expected. These changes are fixing a grammatical error in an email that gets sent to students.


App status error for foreign High School records
Description of change: An error was reported for a student with foreign high school record. This change is to fix the reported error.

VPN Management Server Maintenance

Office of Information Technology will be performing systems maintenance and updates on June 12, 13, and 15 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. The following systems will be specifically impacted:


Disable Microsoft Recall Features on University Owned Devices
Description of change: OIT will be implementing proactive changes on Wednesday June 12th to disable Microsoft Copilot+ Recall features on newer systems in order to protect sensitive university and personal information.

End-user impact: There should be no end user impact at the time the changes are applied. When Copilot+ systems are released at the end of the month, such systems will have the Recall feature disabled when joined to AD or Enrolled in Intune.

Process for loading post-secondary schools after admission apps have been loaded
Description of change: OIT will apply some changes to allow loading of schools after admission apps have been loaded. Also, some changes will be made for loading post-secondary schools. In addition, self-reported degree dates for post-secondary schools will no longer be loaded and a filter will be added to prevent loading fau school records into the transfer school table.

During this time, connectivity to services at HBOI and connectivity from HBOI to the internet will be disrupted for periods of time during the maintenance window.
