Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks from 6/26-6/29 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


BHRIC storage maintenance
Description of change: Research Computing will be performing maintenance on the SAN for BHRIC. During this time there is no expected user impact. However, https://vdi.fau.edu, servers on https://health-vcenter , REDCAP may experience some slowness while the updates are running.

Non-Degree Acceptance Email Update
Description of change: OIT is fixing grammatical errors in the Non-email Acceptance Email.

End-user impact: No end user impact is expected. These changes are fixing a grammatical error in an email that gets sent to students.


App status error for foreign High School records
Description of change: An error was reported for a student with foreign high school record. This change is to fix the reported error.

End-user impact: Students – Admissions Applications. Services should still be operational


VPN Management Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on the Advanced VPN infrastructure from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday June 29th. During this time, there may be periods of time where newly installed Advanced VPN clients may be unable to obtain configuration. This maintenance should not affect the use of Advanced VPN.

Affected services: Advanced VPN configuration and licensing will be unavailable during periods of time
End-user impact: We anticipate minimal end user impact limited to any user that installs the advanced VPN client for the first time. There will be a period of time during the maintenance where new clients will be unable to get a license or a configuration file. Existing clients will work while the server is under maintenance.

Printing services maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading printing services used in the computer labs, library, and web printing on Wednesday, May 22nd, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

Affected services: Papercut services including printing from lab and library computers as well as web printing from fauprint.fau.edu.

Description of change: OIT will be performing server maintenance affecting uAchieve/DARS access and audits.

Research Computing’s last-generation Virtual desktop Infrastructure (vhealth.fau.edu) is currently offline. We have identified the problem and are working to resolve it. Our new generation VDI is currently online and working as expected.

*Redcap Services impacts only 2 or 3 users (this is for external services that redcap uses like some reporting modules)
*** Note Redcap will still be available during this change, users can still fill out forms and surveys as the database is not impacted
*COS-Anzures-filemaker is for one faculty member and a few students and will be offline during this time


Research Computing BHRIC Server maintenance
Description of change: Research computing will be performing server maintenance on BHRIC VMM

VPN Client Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be making a configuration change to advanced VPN clients to prevent an authentication issue with newer client builds. We will also be pushing out client upgrades.

End-user impact: Users of the advanced VPN client will perform SSO authentication using their default browser instead of the FortiClient built-in browser.
Windows advanced client users will also be prompted to reboot their computer for a client upgrade. Mac users will be prompted for an upgrade but not required to reboot.


SMS Compliance
Description of change: We are incorporating language in the Native App, Banner, GradCas, and Owldone to obtain consent from students regarding SMS messages. This is to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Description of change: The Banner AppNav that is used for the Banner Admin application will be upgraded, and the current server will be decommissioned.

Affected services: Banner admin might not be accessible while the switch happens, or current sessions might disconnect.
