Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/21/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:00-7:00 AM
Affected services: Banner INB and SSB
Affected systems: Banner
Description of maintenance: DBA group will migrate Banner INB and SSB Web Servers from OAS 10g to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g
User impact: Banner INB and SSB will be unavailable between 5:00AM and 7:00AM.

When: 3:00-5:00 AM
Affected services: Blackboard, Identity Manager, DHCP, NetReg, PhoneBill, CAS
Affected systems: talonx1, bbm1, bba2, bba6, bbx1, bbx2, lintalon0, idm2, dhcpboc0
Description: Scientific Linux 6.2 updates will be applied to these systems.

When: 5:30-6:00 AM
Affected services: SSO, eCollege, Parature Logins
Affected systems: lintalon0.fau.edu, lintalon1.fau.edu, sso.fau.edu
Description: Central Authentication service will be updated to correct two errors detected by clients. The first problem affects users who previously visited MyFAU and the second prevents web browsers from caching style sheets.
User Impact: CAS will be offline for 10 to 15 minutes. This will prevent users from accessing Owl Apps, Network Registration, Parature, and eCollege.

Affected services: EMS
Affected systems: sql05vs, fauweb1
Description: EMS has released monthly patches for EMS, VirtualEMS, and MasterCalender, apps and databases. Also the Plan a meeting web service will be installed on fauweb1 in the EMS site.
User Impact: EMS will be online, but some user sessions may be interrupted during service restarts.

Description of maintenance: We will be upgrading our CAS server to the latest version and deploying our production InCommon Shibboleth instance.

When: 6:00 am – 7:00 am
Affected services: IDM
Affected systems: IDM1, IDM2, IDM4P
Description of maintenance: Create new IDM resource, we will be adding a new directory resource designed to securely populate directory information.
User Impact: None

When: 5:00 am – 6:00 am
Affected services: DHCP, Blackboard, Network Registration, Phone Bill
Affected systems: Bba[1-6], bbc[1-2], bbx[1-2], bbm1, dhcpboc[0-1], dhcpdav1, dhcpjup1, lintalon[0-1], talonx[1-2], idm[1-2], madcat1p
Description of maintenance: The goal of the change is to update Middleware Scientific Linux systems to the latest patch and feature level (6.2).
User Impact: Intermittent loss of service is expected for DHCP on all campuses between 5:00 am and 6:00 am. Blackboard, NetReg, and PhoneBill may be unavailable for small periods of time, but this is unexpected.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/17/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:00 am – 6:00 am

Description of maintenance: The goal of the change is to install the Bboogle building block on Blackboard production. This new tool will allow Faculty and Staff to link content stored in Google Applications with Blackboard and automatically creates Google Groups for courses.
User impact: None. No downtime is expected.

When: 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM
Affected services:  Active Directory (AD)
Affected systems:  davdcfau01
Description of maintenance:  An IDM agent is being installed on the Davie domain controller and must be rebooted afterwards.
User Impact: None expected.

OIT Network Maintenance, Friday May 11, 2012 from 1:00am to 6:00am

Friday, May 11 from 1:00am to 6:00am:

Network connectivity between campuses, within the Boca campus, and to and from the internet will be intermittent during the hours of 1:00am and 6:00am

1:00a.m.-6:00a.m: Security will be performing upgrades from pre-release code to release code on the Boca firewall clusters.
This will intermittently impact access between networks on the Boca campus, as well as to and from the internet.

 4:00a.m. to 6:00a.m:  Networking will be moving Metro Ethernet between routers.
This will cause a short disruption in service between Boca and all partner campuses.

4:00a.m. to 6:00a.m:   Networking will be working in conjunction with Systems for capacity and reliability updates to specific switches in the Datacenter.
This will cause a loss of connectivity for a couple of minutes to various servers in the datacenter including Blackboard, vWorkspace, Graduate Admission Application, Old DNS (nsboc1), SCCM, EMS and Meeting Matrix, Exchange, Talisma, College of Education HyperV server, DHCP, DNS, Identity Manager, PhoneBill, Network Registration, Lists, Sharepoint, Talisma, Xitracs, OwlRadio.

The Network Registration host on the Davie campus is being migrated from VMWare ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.
When
: 3:00am – 6:00am
Affected Services: DNS (131.91.40.116), Network registration, DHCP

Description of Maintenance: This change plan encompasses several changes.  First, the host operating system for the DNS, LDAP and DHCP servers at the Davie campus will be upgraded from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 (Oracle) to Scientific Linux 6.  Second, the host Hypervisor will be upgraded from VMWare ESXi Free to Microsoft Hyper-V on the Davie Network Registration Host (vmwdav1). Third, the new DNS, LDAP and DHCP servers will be storage migrated from the staging server to the upgraded production server.
User impact: This will cause intermittent issues with DNS, DHCP and LDAP at Jupiter.  However, systems with valid leases will automatically use the DNS server at FTL during this time.

When: 1:00am – 7:00am

Description of Maintenance:
We will be moving the network based storage for Blackboard production to the NetApp SAN.

Blackboard will be inaccessible while we are performing this maintenance.  We expect to return the system to service by 6:30 am.

Description of Maintenance:
The goal of this migration is to move the Central Authentication Service hosts from the current SUN/Solaris environment to an x86/Linux environment. This change will allow for increased performance and additional high-availability features.

Jupiter Campus – Network Registration Host Migration, Tuesday., May 8, 2012

The Network Registration host on the Jupiter campus is being migrated from VMWare ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.

When: 3:00am – 6:00am
