IRM Systems Maintenance, Thursday 10/06/2011 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 PM

IRM will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deem necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/06/2011 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during IRM maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:45 AM – 6:00 AM
Affected Service: Blackboard
Affected Systems: bba1, bba2, bba3, bba4, bba5, bba6, bbc1, bbc2, bbm1, bb.fau.edu, blackboard.fau.edu
Description of Maintenance: Blackboard requires that we upgrade its patch management software which will require a restart of the application.
Service Interruption: Blackboard will be offline during this change

When: 3:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Affected Service: Minimal service impact – DARS – Degree audits (SSB/INB)
Affected Systems: DARS – Degree audits
Description of Maintenance: Enhancement to the Degree audit system.
Service Interruption: Brief interruption during the upgrade

Affected Service: Talisma
Affected Systems: TALDB01
Description of Maintenance: Talisma will be offline while its storage is upgraded.
Service Interruption: 14 hours

When: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM
Affected Service: OwlApp Graduate Applications
Affected Systems:
Description of Maintenance: Admissions has requested that we upgrade the Owlapp software to route student applications to banner with a new confirmation number format.
Service Interruption: 15 minutes

Employee SSB 8.5 upgrade + patches this Friday morning

Employee SSB 8.5 upgrade plus patches, Position Control 8.5 patches and HR/Payroll 8.5 patches will be installed in Banner production FAUP this Friday (10/7/2011) morning between 3:00am – 7:00am.

This extended production maintenance window is due to the ODS 8.2 upgrade which is scheduled to be installed in production this Thursday (10/6/2011) morning between 3:00am – 7:00am.

Blackboard Gradebook

We have noticed some issues with the grade book which may prevent it from displaying as quickly as normal. A quick temporary fix for the problem is to sort the grade book descending or ascending while it is loading. This action causes it to immediately display. If sorting fails to resolve the problem please enter a call ticket.

This fix has been tested on small and large classes ranging in size from 10 students to 1,500.

Talisma will be unavailable starting at 2:30 pm while we add additional storage to the backend server.

Xpressions (voicemail) maintenance

CSI will be performing hardware maintenance on the Xpressions (voicemail) servers on Wednesday October 5th between 5am and 7am. During this time users will not be able to receive or listen to messages.

[RESOLVED] Blackboard down

Blackboard was offline between 8:45 pm and 9:30 pm. Same problem as earlier. We are still awaiting a solution from the manufacturer.

Telecom Xpressions (voicemail) issue Resolved

The Xpressions (voicemail) servers are back online and functioning.

[RESOLVED] Blackboard Offline

Blackboard was offline between 12:45 pm and 1 pm this afternoon. We are investigating why the service stopped responding.

Blackboard is currently down, we are working to restore service.
