OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Nov 2 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 11/02/2017 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be moving the IP for papercut.fau.edu, and filelocker.fau.edu from the old load balancer to the new load balancer hardware.​
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: filelocker and papercut
Affected systems: filelocker.fau.edu, papercut.fau.edu
Expected End-user impact: During this time, filelocker and papercut will be unavailable. Filelocker users will not be able to access shared files during the outage. Users will not be able to print using the papercut service.

Network upgrades in the General Classroom South building on November 8 at 12:01 am

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, between 12:01 am and 5:00 am, OIT will upgrade the network in the FAU General Classroom South Building #2. This upgrade will cause intermittent interruptions to the network, wireless, and telephones in the General Classroom South building. Description of change:  A security update is being applied to the system
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM

Expected End-user impact: During this time, users will be unable to use any virtual apps that are being served out by the virtualapps.fau.edu site.

Server Maintenance – Banner Upgrades/Patches
Description of change: OIT will be installing several Banner upgrades and patch releases on Thursday, October 19, 2017.
The Financial Aid office has requested the installation of the Financial Aid administrative version 9.3.4 administrative pages as a means to bring production up-to-date for distribution of funds. These releases serve as pre-requisites and co-requisites for the requested administrative pages.
Pre-Requisite releases: General 8.9.2 upgrade and 8.9.2.1 patch, Admin Common version9.3.7 administrative pages, General version 9.3.5 administrative pages, Financial Aid version 9.3.4 administrative pages
Co-Requisite releases: Student 8.13.2 upgrade, Student 9.3.6 administrative pages, Accounts Receivable 8.5.3 upgrade, Accounts Receivable 9.3.4 administrative pages

Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on the FAU NetID system. During the maintenance window, users may not be able to use the accounts.fau.edu portal.

Description of change: Applying updates to the Account Claiming Self Service Portal, https://accounts.fau.edu.

Description of change: We will be moving the IP for apply.fau.edu, and atlantic.fau.edu from the old load balancer to the new load balancer hardware.
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Apply.fau.edu and services residing on atlantic.fau.edu will not be available for 5-10 minutes while the IP is migrated to the new hardware.
Affected systems: apply.fau.edu, ​atlantic.fau.edu
Expected End-user impact:  Prospective students applying to the university during the maintenance may receive an error message.

Storage Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on some backend storage. No end-user impact is anticipated.​
Downtime window start: 3:30 AM
Downtime window end: 6:30 AM
Affected services:  No services will be affected.  The Cluster Upgrade wizard installs the Data ONTAP non-disruptively by performing a “rolling upgrade” which fails over a node, installs the new software and then fails it back before moving onto the next node.
Affected systems: The NetApp cluster being upgraded is boc22naclm01.
Expected End-user impact: During this time, end-users may see a pause in data transfer while a node is failing over or back.

Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the OS of a management system used by college and departmental IT personnel (adcon)​​

Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the System Center Configuration Manager server (boc22sccm) to version 1706​. SCCM clients may update to version 1706 over the next week.​​

Affected services: All OS/application/windows update deployments from boc22sccm​​
Affected systems: boc22sccm
Expected End-user impact: All OS/application/windows update deployments from boc22sccm will be unavailable during the upgrade​
