OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. May 1, from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/01/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected services: Banner Student & Banner Financial Aid
Affected systems: Banner FAUP
Description of maintenance: The following updates will be installed in Banner production: Student 8.5.8– 8.6.0–8.6.1–8.6.2–8.6.3 upgrades. Student, 8.5.8, and 8.6.0 patches.  Financial 8.20 upgrade. Financial Aid Self Service 8.20 Upgrade.
User impact: There will be no user downtime

When:  3:00am to 6:00am.
Affected Services: IDM production, Luminis production (MyFAU), Phonebill app, Report Caster production, IEA Production database IEAP, Middleware production MSOP instance.
Affected Systems: boc22ora01, boc22ora03,boc22ora05 , mcoracle, nwrdcora01.
User Impact: Affected services will be unavailable during the maintenance window.
Reason: Oracle database patch set updates and host patch installations

Outlook bounced message errors

Some Exchange users may be receiving bounce back emails with a description of “Hop count exceeded”. To correct this issue we recommend closing and restarting Outlook. Once Outlook has restarted we recommend that you also resend your original message which had the error. We apologize for the inconvenience.

WebFOCUS production unavailable starting at 12:15pm today

WebFOCUS production will be unavailable today (2/24/14) from 12:15pm until 1:00pm in order to apply an emergency maintenance.
This will impact jobs run manually or scheduled through ReportCaster. You will receive an update when the maintenance is finished and
WebFOCUS is available.

Emergency Banner maintenance

Banner production forms access will be intermittently unavailable between 8am-9am today, January 18th. This is to correct a problem that appeared with the recent update of Java 7.

OIT service interruption [update]

OIT has identified a storage problem which was the cause for the service outage. The problem has been corrected and services are returning to their normal state. We thank you for your patience.

OIT has experienced a problem in its data center which are affecting multiple services, some of which are:

– DNS
– Blackboard
– Sharepoint
– Internal websites

Recent changes to VPN and email access

Due to the latest number of phishing attacks from compromised accounts, we have blocked access to the internal SMTP server (smtp.fau.edu) from remote systems that connect via VPN until further notice. VPN users should continue to use Outlook Web Access, Outlook or MyFAU from remote systems. For those using non-Outlook email clients but still connect to Exchange, please refer to the information located here for detailed settings regarding IMAP, POP and authenticated SMTP.
