OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. July 24 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 07/24/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected Systems: ​Banner Production (FAUP)
Description of Maintenance:  ​The following updates will be installed in Banner production: Faculty Advisor Self-Service – 8.5.4 upgrade, Faculty Advisor Self-Service – 8.5.4.1 patch, Faculty Advisor Self-Service – 8.5.4.3 patch, Faculty Advisor Self-Service — 8.6 upgrade, Faculty Advisor Self-Service – 8.6.0.2 patch
User Impact: ​There are no anticipated user/service impact

Affected Systems: vip.fau.edu​, more specifically, fulltext.fau.edu
Description of Maintenance:  ​We are converting the frontend physical server responsible for the VIP document management system to a virtual one to allow for better management and flexibility.
User Impact: Registrar’s office and other groups who rely on the scanned images stored within VIP.​

Description of Maintenance: In order to meet the Federal deadlines for loan dispersements, the following will be installed in Banner production: Financial Aid/Financial Aid Self Service 8.20.1 & Banner Student 8.6.4
User Impact: There will be no user impact

Affected Services: VIP Document Management System

Description of Maintenance: Appworx production database (APWXP) will be upgraded from Oracle 10g to 11g.​
User Impact: Production ​Appworx jobs will not be executed during the down time.

Affected Services: ​R25, Sharepoint, Talisma, Talon, IEA Web and Data, certain networking servers, EMS, MSSQL1&2.
Affected Systems: Approximately 40 servers
Description of Maintenance: Systems is moving all computer objects belonging to OIT servers from the 22_CM OU to the OIT OU. This is being done so that the 22_CM OU can be used for end-user computer objects only.
User Impact: This move should not cause any disruptiuon of services.

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected Services: Banner self-service (SSB) and Internet Native Banner (INB)
Affected Systems: ​bannerprd.fau.edu
Description of Maintenance: ​Install latest Oracle patch set updates for Banner production database (FAUP).
User Impact: Faculty, staff, and students will not be able to access Banner production during the maintenance.

Affected Systems: ​Blackboard
Description of Maintenance: We will be installing the newest cumulative patch to solve some outstanding issues.​
User Impact: Blackboard Will be unavailable from 3 to 6 AM​

Network Maintenance – Friday July 4th from 4:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.

OIT will be performing network maintenance on Friday July 4th from 4:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.  During this time, there will be a network interruption lasting between 15-20 minutes affecting connectivity between FAU and the Internet. This interruption in service will affect many campus network-based resources including Blackboard and streaming media.

This is a reminder that Banner production FAUP will be unavailable tomorrow 12:00am to 10:00am Friday 27 June 2014 in order to complete Phase I of the fiscal year end roll process.

OIT Systems Maintenance – Thurs. June 26 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/26/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 3:00AM – 6:00AM
Affected services: Undergraduate Application: https://ugapp.fau.edu and Graduate Application: https://owlapp.fau.edu​
Affected systems: ugapp1, ugapp2, ugapp3, ugapp4, ugapp5​
Description of maintenance: We are upgrading the admissions application to improve usability. It will be offline from 3am until 6am while we redeploy all services.
User impact: The admissions applications will be offline. Once they return to service the admissions forms will look different and may require that users clear their browser cache.
At this time we know the select box usage is effected and they must be manipulated with a mouse instead of the keyboard. We have contacted the vendor about this problem.​

Affected services: All domain-joined PCs​
Affected systems: All domain-joined PCs​
Description of maintenance: ​OIT will be changing the default domain for PCs to be ‘FAU’. When signing-in to a computer ‘FAU’ will be the default when asking for credentials. If you need to authenticate with a user account in the IRM domain you will need to enter IRM\netid and your password (this is rare)
User impact: ​When prompted for credentials, ‘FAU’ will be the default domain. There is no downtime expected for this change.

Affected services: We will be moving the content directory to faster storage
Affected systems: Blackboard ​
Description of maintenance: ​Blackboard will be unavailable during the maintenance window. We expect some servers to be up by the 1 hour mark with the rest being brought up one at a time and expect to be finished by 6 AM
User impact: ​Blackboard will be unavailable during the maintenance window.
