OIT Systems Maintenance, Tuesday, July 30 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance on Tuesday, 07/30/2013 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.  The following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 07/30/2013, 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Affected Services: Banner test and development, IDM test and development, Report Caster test, Blackboard test and development, Luminis test, Middleware test instance.
Affected Systems: banoradev, modena, bbloraclealt, boc22ora02, boc22ora04.
Reason: Quarterly Oracle database patch set updates and host patch installations
User Impact: Services listed may be temporarily unavailable during the window.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday, July 18 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 07/18/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 3:00 – 6:30 AM
Affected Systems: besnode01.ad.fau.edu
Groups Involved: Systems
Description of Maintenance: p2v of the Blackberry Enterprise server
User Impact: the blackberry server will be offline for a few minutes at the end of the migration process.

Affected services: Blackboard, Banner, Myfau, Filelocker, Directory Services, CAS, IDM, Netreg, Sharepoint, OwlApp, UGApp, and Tms Bridge
Affected systems: BigIP LTM
Description of maintenance: BigIP load balancers are being moved to a new rack.
User impact: Although the LTM units are redundant, during the physical move, there will still be a failover from one unit to the other. Upon failover, there will be a short period of erratic connectivity for services behind the load balancers. These include:
Blackboard, Banner, Myfau, Filelocker, Directory Services, CAS, IDM, Netreg, Sharepoint, OwlApp, UGApp, and Tms Bridge.

Description of Maintenance: GTM unit located in Boca Raton is being moved to a new rack.

Description of Maintenance: A few changes will be made to allow wordpress to replicate to NWRDC for disaster recovery purposes

Description of Maintenance: Move Evisions from rack rw05 to rw08
User Impact: Evisions will be unavailable during the physical move.

Affected Services: main fau website www.fau.edu (no downtime)
Affected Systems: webnet4, webnet5, webnet6, webnet7, webnetnw
Description of Maintenance: www.fau.edu currently allows directory listing. An administrative decision was made to no longer allow that for security concerns.
User impact: From now on, if anyone intended to use www.fau.edu as a file server to allow browsing of a directory to serve up files, they will no longer be able to do so.

Description of Maintenance: We will be breaking 10 port channels on DBC1 Switch3&4 and DBC2 Switch3,4,5&6.
User Impact: There will be no end user impact. Each port channel will be broken one at a time.

Description of maintenance: The following updates will be installed in Banner production: General 8.6.0.2 patch. The above mentioned Banner module will be installed to the specified version in production FAUP.
User impact: There will be no user impact.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/20/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 6:00 – 6:30 AM
Affected Systems: adcon.irm.ad.fau.edu
Description of Maintenance: Migrate adcon from 131.91 to 10.19.64.16 and update dns. Remove cname for adcon.fau.edu and add back in as A record
User Impact: Users sessions will be interrupted and they will need to login again once dns is updated.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/13/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:00 – 7:00AM  Affected services: Banner, Blackboard, ODS, Appworx, MyFAU email  Affected systems: bocana01 & bocana02 (NetApp storage)  Description of maintenance: Upgrade our NetApp filers bocana01/bocana02 from ONTAP 8.0.2P4 to ONTAP 8.1.2P4.  User impact: We do not expect any end-user impact, but should something go wrong, the above mentioned services will be affected.

When: 5:00 – 7:00AM  Affected Services: EMS  Affected Systems: events.fau.edu(fauweb5,fauappsrv2,sql05vs)  Description of Maintenance: EMS, VirtualEMS, and Master Calendar IIS sites, databases, and connectors will be patched and upgraded to their latest versions.  User Impact: Users sessions will be interrupted and they will need to login again.

When: 5:00 – 6:00AM  Affected Services: SPOT,  Affected Systems: swise, mcmail, mcsource  Description of Maintenance: SSL certificates that are set to expire on June 16 will be renewed  User Impact: momentary interruptions as each server’s web service is restarted. See below for the apps that run on each server.

When: 6:20 – 6:30 AM  Affected Systems: Symantec Server (smtpsec2)  Description of Maintenance: Upgrade to latest version.  User Impact: None — another server available — approximately 5 minutes to update.
