[Resolved] Numerous HPC cluster services offline

Thank you for your patience. We rebooted the failed switch, recovered it from backup and things are now accessible again. If you find any issues please place a ticket at https://helpdesk.fau.edu/

10 pm February 10, 2020: A network switch failure in the HPC data center has caused numerous (most) HPC cluster services on Koko to fail. We will be rebooting and reseting the switch in the morning and are hopeful it will come back online shortly there after.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday February 6 from 3:00AM to 6:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 02/06/2020 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Account self-service maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be adding additional menus to account claiming pages for transcript requests.​
Downtime window start: 6:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: accounts.fau.edu – account claiming
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users may not be able to claim or manage their accounts through this service while it is restarted.

Canvas LTI Updates
Description of change: Canvas is making a change to their code on 2/15.  We will be updating the following applications in advance of that change to make sure that the change is seamless for our applications.
The following applications will be updated: Observer Manager, Course Manager, User Manager, Discussion Report, Syllabus Viewer, Grade Uploader​, Civic Literacy Enrollment, Forgot Password (Continuing Ed)
Downtime window start: 5:30 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Canvas Courses Manager, User Manager, Discussion Report, Grade Uploader, Observer Manager, Syllabus Viewer, Civic Literacy Enrollment, Forgot Password (Continuing Ed)​
Expected End-user impact: During this time, each application will be momentarily unavailable when the update occurs and after for about 10-15 minutes when the servers are rebooted

Removing unused and disabled services from Single Sign On
Description of change: OIT will be removing obsolete and disabled services from our Single Sign On system’s allowed services list.
Downtime window start: 6:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: Services Already Disabled
Expected End-user impact: During this time, there should be no impact as these are either already disabled or unreachable.

Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the components of several systems to resolve bugs and add support for newer hardware.​​

Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: Server upgrades at our disaster recovery site (NWRD): ADFS, OUD, SSO, Banner
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected​​

[RESOLVED] VirtualApps Currently Offline

The emergency maintenance for VirtualApps has been completed and the service is expected to be operational again at this time.

VirtualApps Currently Offline

VirtualApps is currently offline for emergency maintenance. OIT is currently working to resolve the issue and hopes to have service restored shortly. An update will be posted when service rresumes.

[Resolved] Banner 8X/XE Maintenance, Friday December 6th from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM

Banner will be down on Friday morning, 12/6/2019, from 5:00 AM. OIT will be installing five code releases for the Accounts Receivables department in order to correct a recent production matter. Banner is expected to be available after 6:00 AM. – Completed.

Student 2Factor Enrollment and Prompt

Tbe student 2factor enrollment tool and prompt will be updated with new and improved messaging at 5 pm Friday November 22, 2019.

Upgrade Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and Management Server (CMM) – 11/22/19

On Friday November 22nd at 4pm OIT and the vendor will be performing a software upgrade on the Cisco Meeting Server.

During this time Virtual Meeting rooms will be unavailable.  Contact videoconferencing for alternatives or use WebEx.  All FAU members have access to WebEx with their FAUNET ID; You may login to WebEx at https://fau.webex.com

Research Computing Resources

Due to a failure of A/C on the Jupiter Campus the Research Computing resources including Koko, Koko-login, KokoWin, and Samba drives are offline. Physical Plant is working on the issue and we have a long running project in place to prevent this type of failure in the future. If you have any questions please let us know.

BHRIC vCenter instability

The BHRIC’s vCenter server is showing to be unstable. We have a ticket open VMware and to resolve the problems this evening after hours.

[Resolved] Koko HPC Cluster

The KOKO NFS server is back up and running. We are still monitoring the system and handling any reported issues. Should you experience problems with any Research Computing Service please submit a ticket.

The KOKO NFS server froze this evening and we are working on correcting the problem. We will send out an update shortly.
