[resolved] Boca domain controllers and Exchange mail unavailable

**Update – 11:50PM – The domain controllers (and Exchange mail) have returned to service

At approximately 11:10 we experienced a failure of both Boca Domain Controllers. As a result, email sent to and from Exchange users may be delayed. Additionally, some applications which are configured to only use bocdcfau01 and bocdcfau02 may be experiencing issues. We are working to resolve the issue ASAP.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Sept 19 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday,09/17/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Description of maintenance: OIT is installing a hotfix from Microsoft in an attempt to resolve an issue with several systems in our VM host environment.
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

Affected services: Blackboard
Description: Blackboard has released an update to the Software Updates module.
User Impact: Blackboard’s Cloud and Social Profile tools may be inaccessible during this time.

When: 6:00-7:00AM
Affected services: Travel Z# Request Application in MyFAU
Affected systems: Boc22ora03, Diablo, Talonx1
Description of maintenance: OIT is migrating the database schema associated with the Travel Z# Request Application from a test Oracle instance MSOT to the production system MSOP.
User impact: The “Znumber Request” links under Travel in MyFAU will be unavailable during the migration process.

Affected systems: smtp.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: The DNS entry for smtp.fau.edu will be updated to point to Ironport servers. The internal smtp server is no longer required because Ironport antivirus licenses have been acquired and activated.
User impact: We do not expect any end-user impact, but if users have hard-coded the current IP or used the host name instead of smtp they would lose access to the smtp server and not be able to send mail.

Description of Change:
We plan on adjusting the DHCP provided DNS for the Boca Campus to include DNSBOC0.fau.edu, DNSBOC1.fau.edu, and DNSDAV1.fau.edu instead of only dnsboc0.fau.edu and dnsjup1.fau.edu. We expect this to improve the quality of service provided to clients in the event of a failure in Boca.

When: 3:00 am to 6:00 am.
Affected Services: Banner production, Blackboard production.
Affected Systems: bannerprd, bannerprddr, bbloracle, bbloracledr.
Description of Change: Oracle database patch set updates and host patch installations
User Impact:  Affected services will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

Network: Internet outage at 2:44 pm

[resolved] Intermittent issues with Outlook connectivity

*Update 3:42PM – We believe the issues related to Outlook prompting for credentials have been resolved. If you are still experiencing this issue please close and re-open Outlook. If the problem persists please open a helpdesk ticket so we may inspect your system. Thank you for your patience!

We are experiencing intermittent issues with Outlook prompting for passwords and in some cases not connecting to the mail server. We believe these issues are related to the settings modified in the maintenance window this morning. We are working to determine the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible. Closing and re-opening Outlook may resolve the issue in the meantime.
