Blackboard maintenance has completed and blackboard service is operational.

The network maintenance scheduled for 2:00 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. this morning has been completed.

The Plivo service is now restored. FAUGuest account requests are available once again.

The SMS (text message) provider for the FAUGuest wireless system is currently experiencing downtime.  Logging in with your FAUNet ID is still functional, but any new login requests will not be sent via SMS.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 03/06/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: Blackboard
Description of maintenance: Systems will be applying a patch to blackboard to remedy a java issue some users may see with the newest java version. We will also be making a configuration change to alleviate issues some users may experience with the newest version of internet explorer 11.
User impact: Blackboard will be unavailable for about two hours(likely less) while we apply the patch and make the configuration changes.

Affected systems: octopus.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: OIT will be upgrading the operating system of the server.
User impact: Blackboard users may not be able to use certain building blocks. Servers that utilize the proxy for updates and/or contacting the internet will not work

OIT will be performing maintenance on core network equipment early tomorrow morning from 2:00a.m. until 3:00a.m.  During this time, access to and from the internet and access between various network-based services at FAU will be interrupted. OIT anticipates between 20 and 30 minutes of downtime.

OIT will be performing network maintenance on Wednesday, March 5th from 2:00a.m. until 6:00a.m. During this time many network services will be intermittently unavailable including, but not limited to, access to the Internet, access between campuses, telephone services, and VPN access.

In case of an emergency during this period, please dial 911 or contact the FAU Police Department at 561-271-5163 from a non-FAU phone.

The disruptive network maintenance scheduled for March 4th between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. has been completed. All services are expected to be operating normally at this time.

Network maintenance will be performed in the early morning hours of Tuesday March 4th, Wednesday March 5th, and Thursday March 6th. During maintenance, network connectivity will be intermittent. This includes access to and from the internet and within FAU. All network functionality is expected to be fully operational by 6:00 a.m. each day.

Tuesday March 4th:  5:00a.m. until 5:45.  Estimated network interruption of 10-15 minutes.

Wednesday March 5th: 2:00a.m. until 5:00a.m. Estimated network interruption of 10-15 minutes with possible intermittent interruptions during the rest of the maintenance window.

Thursday March 6th:  2:00 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. Estimated network interruption of 25-30 minutes.

Echo360 will be intermittently unavailable from 5:00pm-5:20pm .  The Echo360 service needs to be restarted to free a blocked thread that is preventing content from being ingested.  Any user viewing an Echo recording will have their service interrupted while the item restarts.

The issue has been resolved, and the Echo360 service is available.

Description of maintenance: OIT will be including additional updates to clients managed by OIT’s System Center Configuration Manager.
User impact: Users will notice more Windows updates being applied during the next maintenance window if their machine is managed by OIT’s SCCM.

Description of maintenance: Oracle database patch set updates and host patch installations

Description of maintenance: OIT is preparing the www.fau.edu systems to allow for single signon authentication for some new webpages.

Description of maintenance: The Judaica Sound Archives server is being converted to a virtual entity.  Its operating system will also change to linux from solaris.

Reason: Apache web server hosting Appworx web interface will be upgraded.  The agent will remain up throughout the upgrade.

Description of Maintenance: OIT will upgrade the Undergraduate Admissions application to provide additional questions, integration and performance.
User Impact:  Potential applicants will not be able to submit undergraduate admissions applications to the university due the maintenance.
