[Resolved] Blackboard Performance Issue

OIT Staff have made adjustments to the Blackboard servers and the performance issue appears to be resolved at this time.

Blackboard Performance Issue

Users logging into Blackboard may experience long loading times when accessing the “Courses” tab.  OIT staff is currently investigating the issue.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs, April 18 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 04/18/2013 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Blackboard, Banner, password synchronization, ePrint, Xpressions voicemail, VirtualApps, Xitracs website

When: 3:00am to 6:00am
Affected Services: Banner production, Blackboard production.
Affected Systems: bannerprd, bannerprddr, bbloracle, bbloracledr.
Reason: Oracle database patch set updates and host patch installations
User Impact: Blackboard and Banner production will be unavailable during this time.

When: 2:30am to 6:00am
Affected Services: Xitracs website, Password synchronizations (IDM)
Affected Systems: Xitracs, lintalon1, lintalon2, idm-gateway-p, idm2, talonx2
Description of Maintenance: These systems are being migrated to different host hardware
User Impact: The following services will be unavailable for approximately for 30 to 60 minutes during the window:
Xitracs website, IDM (password synchronizations)

When: 3:00AM – 6:00AM
Affected Services: VirtualApps
Affected Systems: xenrdpsrv1, xenrdpsrv2, xenrdpsrv3, xenrdpsrv4, xenrdpsrv5
Description of Maintenance: Citrix environment offline for firmware updates.
End user impact: The FAU VirtualApps service at virtualapps.fau.edu will be unavailable.

When: 3:00am to 6:00am
Affected services: Xpressions voicemail
Affected systems: Xpressions servers
Description of maintenance: Microsoft updates will be applied to the Xpressions servers.
User impact: Xpressions voicemail will be offline during the reboot

When: 3:00am to 3:30am
Affected Systems: ePrint
Groups Involved: Systems
Description of Maintenance: The RAID controller firmware will be updated and the battery will be replaced again.
User Impact: ePrint will be unavailable between 3:00 and 3:30AM

When: 3:00am to 7:00am
Affected services: Banner Prod
Affected systems: Banner Prod
Description of maintenance: Clean Address 4.10.4 upgrade will be installed on the Banner production server (bannerprd)
User impact: There will be no user impact.

[RESOLVED] – Google Apps Server is Currently Unavailable

***Google Apps servers are back up and running. ***

 

Google servers are currently unavailable and affecting all apps, including Owl Mail. Google is looking into this issue and services should be restored soon.

Completed Network Maintenance Bldg. T05 (Property Management) 4/17/2013

Work Completed.

Wednesday 4/17 Networking Department will be upgrading the network equipment in building T05 the Property Management building. The work will be done from 5:00am to 7:00am. Buildings T10 (Arts and Letters/Nursing) and T11 (Small Business Development Center/ROTC) will be affected by this upgrade.

Networking: Networking issues in bldg. 8W/Student Health and 76/Bookstore have been resolved. Network has been restored in the buildings.
