Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 11/01/2018 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Description of change: OIT is adding computing capacity to the back end servers that will be responsible for storing authentication and user information.

Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected. Maintenance is being performed on back end servers that the user population is not exposed to.

Description of change: OIT will be adding an extra web server to our DR site to make the northwest web servers more fault tolerant.​

Description of change: Upgrade the University Form server from a virtual machine to a physical device. This will resolve a bug we are experiencing that causes the form service to crash. ​

Expected End-user impact: During this time, web users will not be able to submit or lookup the results of forms.​

Description of change: OIT will be applying an update to the Canvas User Management tool that is used by Continuing and Executive Education to manage their non-FAU accounts in Canvas​.

Downtime window end: 6:10 AM
Affected services: Only the tool itself will be unavailable as the update is applied.​
Affected systems: Only the tool itself will be unavailable as the update is applied.​​
Expected End-user impact: During this time, the users that use the tool will be unable to use it during the update. All of the users of the tool have been notified.
​NOTE: This tool’s availability will in no way affect the availability of Canvas itself.

Description of change: Install Oracle Critical Patch Updates for Identity Management environment. We ran out of time during the last maintenance window and these patches were held back.

Network Equipment Maintenance

OIT will be performing maintenance on core network equipment from 5:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. on ​10/16, 10/17 and 10/18.

​Tuesday: Boca Raton

Wednesday: HBOI Campus

Thursday: Jupiter Campus

Network connectivity within these campuses and to the Internet will be affected for 10-15 minutes while affected equipment reboots.

[RESOLVED]Degraded Services Single Sign On, DHCP, DNS

Issue is resolved and services are fully online.

DHCP, DNS, Single Sign On, Network Monitoring, and EDURoam may experience delays and possible errors this morning due to an issue with a device in Building 96. Information Technology is working on resolving the issue and will update this notice as we learn more.

Admissions Status Portal Upgrade at 5 am

The admissions status portal for undergraduate applicants will be upgraded the morning of October 4th at 5 am. During this upgrade the status portal will not be available and users may receive a 404 page not found.
