OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Sept 27 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 09/27/2018 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Server Maintenance – Inbound email update
Description of change:
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Inbound email
Outbound email: smtp.fau.edu
Affected systems: email servers
Expected End-user impact: During this time there will be minimal to no impact. Outbound email using smtp.fau.edu may be delayed and/or may get bounced back depending on how the individual server is configured. Inbound email may be delayed during the change window.

Banner Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading several Banner modules
These modules include: Student, Account Receivable, and Financial Aid
Downtime window start: 2:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: Banner 8, Banner XE, Application Navigator and Self-Service
Affected systems: Banner
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users may not be able to connect to Banner and or Self-Service during the installation.

Application Maintenance – Forms.fau.edu user and role sync
Description of change: OIT will begin syncing all Employees and their roles into forms.fau.edu’s database one per day.
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 3:00 AM
Affected services: forms.fau.edu​
Affected systems: frevvo server
Expected End-user impact: During this time there is no end-user impact. After the change, users will be able to accurately route forms to employees as needed.

Identity Management
Description of change: ​Upgrades and patches which may require restart.​ User management application will be upgraded to v. 0.2.4
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: ​OIM web servers
Affected systems: Changes are occurring to back end services. User should not see any impact on their existing services due to this changes.
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected.

Jupiter Data Center migration.
Description of change: OIT is condensing 4 Jupiter racks into 2. This will require downtime for all services on the Jupiter campus.​
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: All services on the Jupiter campus including Domain Authentication, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, application and file share services. All Video Conferencing services.
Affected systems: Jupiter Domain controllers, Jupiter File Servers, VC server equipment, Jupiter Application Servers.
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users will be without the majority of computing services on the Jupiter campus during this 4 hour window. This will include login authentication, Jupiter application and Jupiter server shares, plus all VC services.

Description of change:  OIT will make some updates to uAchieve system.
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: uAchieve degree auditing system
Affected systems: uAchieve server
Expected End-user impact: During this time, the uAchieve website will be temporarily unavailable.

Server maintenance (IP Change) – FAU website
Description of change: We will be changing the IPs of the webnet servers (4-8) from 10.50.65.x to 10.19.40.x
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services:  The FAU website may be inaccessible for a second while the load balancer sends users to the next available server.
Affected systems: webnet servers​
Expected End-user impact: During this time, we expect minimal to no user impact as we will be making changes one server at a time.

This issue has been resolved.

Admissions Status Maintenance Wednesday 12th at 7 am

We will be performing a short update to the Admissions Status Portal at 7 am on Wednesday September 12th. During this update appstatus.fau.edu/admissions will be offline and applicants will not be able to check the status of admissions applications.

OIT will be performing network maintenance on Saturday, September 22 from 12:01 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. Due to the nature of the maintenance, users may experience intermittent network and telephone outages lasting approximately 10 minutes during this window.

Network Upgrade – Library MPLS 10g Router Upgrade
Description of change: Networking is performing an upgrade of the LY3 Building complex. All network services in building will be offline during the cutover.
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: Library Building network services. Wireless and wired.
Affected systems: All network devices in LY3
Expected End-user impact:  During this time network services in the Library building will be offline. Once back online, end users m​ay need to reboot.

OIT will be performing proactive maintenance on core network equipment from 5:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. on ​9/18 and 9/19

​Tuesday:

Davie, FTL, NWRDC, Seatech

Wednesday:

HBOI,Jupiter, Boca BHRIC

Network connectivity within these campuses and to the internet will be affected for 10-15 minutes while affected equipment reboots
