Library Network Upgrades on September 14, 2018 at 4:00 am

On Friday, September 14, 2018, between 4:00 am and 6:00 am, OIT will upgrade the network in the FAU Library. This upgrade will cause intermittent interruptions to the network, wireless, and telephones in the Library. OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Sept. 6 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 09/06/2018 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Identity Management Server upgrade
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading and applying patches to the Identity Management servers
Downtime window start: 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Identity Management, Account Self Service
Affected systems: OIM servers
Expected End-user impact: During this time no end-user impact is expected as the changes are occurring to back end services.

OIT database server maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be migrating several databases to new hardware
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 5:00 AM
Affected services: EMS, Master Calendar, Frevvo, Jira, Owlcard, Private Eye, Tech Fee, Software License site, FacStaff Alert, eCollege, ​Attorney’s site, Medicine
Affected systems: Microsoft SQL databases
Expected End-user impact: During this time, the services and databases listed above will be unavailable

Windows configuration and deployment system upgrade
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the system that provides configuration, deployment, and updates to Windows clients to the latest version​
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: OS deployments, app installs, windows updates from SCCM​
Affected systems: SCCM server
Expected End-user impact: During this time, all OS deployments, app installs, and Windows updates from SCCM will be unavailable

Upgrade Application License Server
Description of change: OIT will be moving an application license server to a newer server operating system.
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Meeting Matrix (application solely used by Student Union)
Affected systems: fauappsrv2, boc22mtgmtrx16
Expected End-user impact:  Affected users may need to remap network shares and possibly reinstall the meeting matrix client.

Office 365 intermittent issues

There appears to be some intermittent issues accessing Office 365 services at this time. We are monitoring the status with Microsoft and will post any updates as we receive them.

Users may be unable to authenticate or connect to the Office 365 service.

Latest message:

Title: Unable to access Office365 services User Impact: Users may be unable to authenticate or connect to the Office 365 service. Current status: We’ve determined that a data center issue caused a subset of the Office 365 service to become degraded. We’re connecting some of the affected services to an alternate infrastructure, while remediating the underlying issue within the datacenter. Scope of impact: Impact is specific to a subset of users who are served through the affected infrastructure. Start time: Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 9:09 AM UTC Preliminary root cause: A data center issue caused a subset of the Office 365 service to become degraded.
