OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. March 23 from 12:01AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 03/23/2023 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Banner Self-Service 9, 8 and Admin application Maintenance
Description of change: The servers that host Banner 9 Self-Service Registration, Self-service 8 and the admin application will be updated with new performance settings. This will assist with the load that is driven during the Registration period. Ellucian will be making these vendor suggested changes to the servers.
Downtime start: 03/23/2023 3:15 AM
Downtime end: 03/23/2023 7:00 AM
Impacted Services: Self-Service Banner 9 Registration, Banner Self-service 8, Banner Admin application
End-user impact: All users accessing these services.


Banner registration mods: Restricting Online Students from registering in-campus courses.
Description of change: A validation will be added to self service registration to prevent students who are classified as fully online, to register for courses that are on-campus only.
Downtime start: 03/23/2023 3:00AM
Downtime end: 03/23/2023 7:00AM
Affected services: Banner Self-Service Registration 9
End-user impact: No end-user impact is expected during the maintenance window. After the change, fully online students will not be able to register of partial or fully in-person courses.


Server maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing server maintenance on several core systems from 4:00a.m. until 5:00 a.m. on 3/23. During this time, access to the Assessment, Crosswalk, Grademan, Gradrates, Software License, Tech Free, and Transient Application services will be briefly interrupted.

College of Business Application Migration
Description of change: Maintenance will be performed on the graduate admissions application to improve its long term performance.

Downtime end: 03/23/2023 6:00 AM
Impacted services: Graduate Admissions Application
End-user Impact: The end users will not be affected by this change there will be no downtime as the service is already running on the new cluster.


Network Registration and Ezproxy Migration to new hardware
Description of change: Guest Wireless, Network Registration and EzProxy authentication will be migrated to new infrastructure.

Downtime end: 03/23/2023 6:00 AM
Impacted services: Network Registration and EZProxy Authentication
End-user Impact: None expected, this DNS update will be instant.


Frevvo-api upgrade to cloud native architecture
Description of change: Frevvo’s API utility will be migrated from Virtual Machines to Kubernetes on Boca and in the cloud.

Impacted Services: 4P (SSO Login Prompt), Frevvo-api, and Frevvo.
End-user Impact: Affected services should run faster and more reliably.


PrivateEye Migration to new hardware
Description of change: The legacy version of PrivateEye a tool used by purchasing for older PO will be moved to new hardware and a new URL.

Resolved – Banner Production Admin – Service Invocation Failed

Update:

Users please close all your browser sessions and re-open if it is still not working. The service is working correctly now.

Original Post:

We have users that have reported issues with the Banner Admin application in production. When trying to open a form in the search, they receive a message of “Service Invocation Failed, Couldn’t access remote service.”

The issue is resolved, however, if you continue to experience this error message. Please close all your browser windows, open new ones, and try again. It should work after doing this.

Clean Address Application Service Interruption

Our service called clean address is currently experiencing issues. Any pages that use this product to sanitize addresses are impacted. Two areas with most use are:

Pages may not load correctly. We are working on a temporary fix for the Personal Information page, and we are working with our vendor to restore the service.

We will be conducting maintenance on BANNER to bring the system up to date with pre-requisites for other installations. The Banner system will be unavailable during this time.

Services Impacted: BANNER Admin, Databases and Self-Service.

REDCap Update

This is a routine REDCap update. The system will be offline during update. 

End User Impact: Service will be offline during update for all users.

Services Impacted: REDCap.


OnBase Production Form Deployment

A new form and workflow will be migrated and installed in OnBase Production, the content management system. The new form is called the Grade Forgiveness Form. 

End User Impact: No Impact nor service downtime. This is just a new feature deployment.

RESOLVED – Workday FAU Production Tenant Experiencing Performance Issues

Workday has alerted us that they found the source of the service degradation issue and have resolved it. We tested and the system is now back to standard performance.

Original Post:

Workday alerted us that they are having issues with Production tenants hosted in their WD1 Data Center. They are trying to determine the root cause so they can restore the service to normal operation. Users may experience slow loading pages, tasks not running, including the home page not loading when logging in. We will continue to monitor Workday’s progress and update this announcement as we receive alerts.

[Resolved] Dining Services Systems Issues

09/13/2022 – 10:30AM

All services were restored at 9AM this morning. The team has confirmed that all point of sale systems are functional, and access to dining service systems is now restored. The incident is now closed.

Our team was able to identify the source of the problem, and implemented a fix. For users still experiencing the issue, please close all your browser windows and start a fresh browser session. We have confirmed it works once this is done. If you cannot close down all your browser windows due to work in progress, please use another browser or use the “incognito” option to access Banner until you have time to close everything out.

We are investigating issues with our production Banner administrative application. When users open a form they are receiving “Service Invocation Failed” ” Couldn’t access remote service” the team is looking at these issues now and will post more information once we identify the source of the error.

Undergraduate Admissions Application Upgrade – Wednesday, July 27, 6:00PM – 6:10PM

The undergraduate online application will be upgraded, tomorrow, Wednesday July 27 starting at 6:00PM. The upgrade will only take 10 minutes. All prospects that are submitting an application, will be able to save their progress and then re-connect to continue their application at the time. However, we request not to use the application during this time if possible.
