OIT Systems Maintenance

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks starting on Wednesday, 5/13/2026 at 10am until Saturday 5/16/2026 at 3am. [Resolved] Transcripts and Google authentication services currently unavailable

Issue resolved around 9:00am this morning

There is currently an outage affecting our Identity environment. This is impacting the account management portal (accounts.fau.edu) to change your password or activate your account, the transcripts portal, and google workspace.

We are working to restore services.

Identity Management System Replacement- Temporary Service Interruption- TOMORROW 3/11 4AM

We will begin the planned replacement of our Identity Management System at 4 AM tomorrow, March 11th. 

During this period, services such as account provisioning, account changes, and password synchronization will be temporarily unavailable.

Authentication for existing accounts should not be affected and will continue to function as usual. 

We will update you as soon as all services are fully restored.

Issue signing into Office Apps on Windows Computers

We have identified an issue with Duo Authentication when signing into Office Apps on Windows computers. After Duo, the application just hangs and you are unable to activate Office. We are currently investigating.

Microsoft Entra MFA / Microsoft Authenticator replacing Duo

Starting Today, September 16th, Florida Atlantic University will begin transitioning Employees from DUO to Microsoft Entra MFA for secure login to Microsoft applications.

What’s Happening:

  • Employees will begin seeing a 4P prompt to setup the Microsoft Authenticator when signing into FAU Services.
  • After enrolling, Entra MFA will be activated for all Microsoft apps (Outlook, Teams, Office 365, etc.). Duo will remain for non-Microsoft logins until we fully transition in the next few months.

What You Need to Know:

  • You can choose from:
    • Microsoft Authenticator app (recommended)
    • Hardware token (e.g., YubiKey)
    • SMS text message
    • Additional options coming soon

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Owlforms update
OIT will be performing upgrades for Owlforms on Thursday Sept 18th from 8am to 9am.
Scheduled Time: Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 08:00 AM to 09:00 AM

End User Impact: Staff


Cisco Voice Cluster Upgrade
The Cisco voice cluster will be upgraded over the following two weeks.
Scheduled Time: Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 09:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Impacted Services: Cisco phones
End User Impact: Users will be unable to use their Cisco phones at certain points during the upgrade.
