OIT Systems Maintenance, Thursday, Feb 18 from 3:00AM – 5:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 02/18/2016 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Enforce SSL on VIP student records site
When: 5:30AM – 6:00AM
Affected services: VIP student record images
Affected systems: vip.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: We are enhancing the security for the VIP student records website
User impact: Registrar’s and admission’s offices and other departments that may rely on the VIP system.

Upgrade SSH software on secure file server
When: 5:45AM – 6:00AM
Affected services: All ​SFTP and SMB access on andisec
Affected systems: andisec​
Description of maintenance: OIT will be upgrading the SSH software on OIT’s secure file server​
User impact: SFTP and SMB may be unavailable on andisec during the window​

LDAP Server Certificate Update
When: 4:00AM – 5:00AM
Affected services: Sun Directory Servers at all campuses. Password Syncronization of Netid.
Single Sign may go offline during the update process so logins to Blackboard, Workday and other services may be delayed.
Affected systems: ldapboc0, ldapboc1, ldapjup1, ldapjup2, ldapdav1, ldapftl1​
cas1, cas2, shibboleth1, shibboleth2
Description of maintenance: We will be applying new signed wildcard certificates to the ldap servers​
User impact: Single Sign may go offline during the update process so logins to Blackboard, Workday and other services may be delayed

Update firmware for Talisma
When: 4:00AM – 5:00AM
Affected services: Talisma
Affected systems: Talisma
Description of maintenance: We will be updating the firmware on taldb01​
User impact: Talisma will be unavailable while the server reboots after the firmware change​

Secure Oracle TNS connections for Banner test/development
When: 5:00AM – 5:30AM
Affected services: All remote SQL connections to Banner test and development instances.​
Affected systems: banoradev​
Description of maintenance: Force secure TNS connections for all Banner test/development instances.​
User impact: Users may not be able to make remote SQL connections to databases on banoradev.fau.edu.​

Prepare mail systems for migration of College of Science mailboxes
When: 6:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: Exchange on-prem, Exchange 365​
Affected systems: exchangeca01, exchange 365​
Description of maintenance: OIT will be making changes to the on-prem and cloud based mail systems to prepare for the migration of College of Science users
User impact: No end-user impact is expected​

[RESOLVED] FAU’s Online Payment System (Touchnet) Unavailable

January 25, 2016

Maintenance for FAU’s Online Payment System (Touchnet) has successfully been completed and is available to accept online payments. 

***Notice***

FAU has extended the cancellation payment due date for all students.

Payments can be made in person or through the campus drop box until Friday,  January 29, 2016 at 5:00 PM on the Boca Raton Campus, Student Services Bldg. 80, Room 113.

Online payments can be made until Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 11:00 PM.

Please note…January 31, 2016 is the deadline for ONLINE PAYMENTS ONLY. Be sure to make your payments by these dates to avoid cancellation.

1098-T’s are currently not able to be viewed. You will receive a notification via your FAU email address when available.

FAU email being blocked- Undeliverable emails

Please note that email messages sent from FAU are currently being limited or blocked by other providers due to an increased number of compromised accounts. This results in some email messages coming back as “undeliverable”  or “delayed delivery.”

Unfortunately, at this time, the only thing we can do is to wait for the other providers to remove the block and/or limit. AOL is currently one of the providers blocking FAU email.

[RESOLVED] Login Issues with Outlook 365 (outlook.fau.edu)

This issue has been resolved.

We are currently experiencing issues with Outlook 365. At this time, users are not able to access Outlook via the web (outlook.fau.edu).

Please note that this does not impact regular Exchange users using OWA (mail.fau.edu).

We are investigating the issue and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.

[UPDATE] FAU Experiencing Degraded Internet Performance

Our service provider has informed us that restoration of services will begin around midnight tonight lasting until morning. We do not have a specific ETA for resolution.  Until the expected restoration of our primary internet link in the early morning hours, we will continue to have degraded performance to all services from off-campus and from FAU to the internet.

FAU Experiencing Degraded Internet Performance

FAU is currently experiencing an outage of its primary connection to the internet. While all traffic has switched over to a backup connection and all services are available, users will experience decreased speeds to the internet until the issue is resolved. Our service provider is aware of the issue and working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Resolved: Single Sign-On Issues

Single Sign-on failed to work as expected this evening October 20th, 2015. We have corrected the problem and will monitor the servers for the next few hours. We have confirmed that Blackboard, Workday, EZProxy, OwlApps (Google Applications) and other related services are now accessible.
