Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/11/2018 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the Oracle Identity Management (OIM) system from 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3 (PS3).

Affected services: Password resets, account claiming, Oracle Identity Management (OIM)
Affected systems: OIM servers
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users will not be able to claim accounts or reset passwords.

Expected End-user impact: During this time there will be minimal to no impact. Outbound email using smtp.fau.edu may be delayed and/or may get bounced back depending on how the individual server is configured. Inbound email may be delayed during the change window.

Jupiter Data Center migration.
Description of change: OIT is condensing 4 Jupiter racks into 2. This will require downtime for all services on the Jupiter campus.​

Affected services: All services on the Jupiter campus including Domain Authentication, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, application and file share services. All Video Conferencing services.
Affected systems: Jupiter Domain controllers, Jupiter File Servers, VC server equipment, Jupiter Application Servers.
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users will be without the majority of computing services on the Jupiter campus during this 4 hour window. This will include login authentication, Jupiter application and Jupiter server shares, plus all VC services.

Description of change: We will be changing the IPs of the webnet servers (4-8) from 10.50.65.x to 10.19.40.x

Affected services:  The FAU website may be inaccessible for a second while the load balancer sends users to the next available server.
Affected systems: webnet servers​
Expected End-user impact: During this time, we expect minimal to no user impact as we will be making changes one server at a time.

Description of change: OIT will be moving an application license server to a newer server operating system.

Expected End-user impact:  Affected users may need to remap network shares and possibly reinstall the meeting matrix client.

Office 365 intermittent issues

There appears to be some intermittent issues accessing Office 365 services at this time. We are monitoring the status with Microsoft and will post any updates as we receive them.

Users may be unable to authenticate or connect to the Office 365 service.

Latest message:

Title: Unable to access Office365 services User Impact: Users may be unable to authenticate or connect to the Office 365 service. Current status: We’ve determined that a data center issue caused a subset of the Office 365 service to become degraded. We’re connecting some of the affected services to an alternate infrastructure, while remediating the underlying issue within the datacenter. Scope of impact: Impact is specific to a subset of users who are served through the affected infrastructure. Start time: Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 9:09 AM UTC Preliminary root cause: A data center issue caused a subset of the Office 365 service to become degraded.
