Description of Maintenance: EMS, VirtualEMS, and Master Calendar IIS sites, databases, and connectors will be patched and upgraded to their latest versions.
User Impact: Users sessions will be interrupted and they will need to login again.
System Center Updates Modifications:
Description of maintenance: Force systems who may have missed previous defined maintenance windows to install Windows Updates (XP, Vista, 7, and 8) with a deadline. Devices will begin enforcing this policy May 16th at 7 AM after the OIT defined maintenance window.
User impact: Users who have consistently had their systems off during previous OIT maintenance windows may experience temporary reductions in system speed while updates are being installed. Users will receive a message box about restarting their systems. This will continue every month as Microsoft issues updates.
On Friday, May 10 2013, between 3:00 am and 6:00 am, the Networking team will replace a core copper switch in the FAU data center. This upgrade will cause an interruption to the network and telephone systems on the FAU Boca Raton campus.

Description of Maintenance: We will be enabling two features in FAU’s Google Applications environment (Owl Apps). The first is additional functionality in Google+, and the second Google Applications rapid release which provides FAU students access to Googles latest features as they are released.

Description of Maintenance: We will be replacing the boca list server with a clone of the server running at northwest. This maintenance must occur because the existing server cannot be updated and packaged software cannot be installed due to a corruption of the RPM databases.
User Impact: The list servers will be offline during this maintenance we will return them to service around 5:30 am. Users will not be able to send or receive messages from any address on the @lists.fau.edu domain. Users will also be using a cleaned up style for the application.

Description of Maintenance:
The current alias file generation process will be altered so that those with mail forwarding addresses to ad.fau.edu or my.fau.edu will be directly reflected in the aliases. Mail for most people with gmail or owa_access roles will now exit the virus scanners and go directly to exchange or gmail instead of unnecessarily flowing into MyFAU’s mail server (mcmail) and then getting forwarded from there.

Network maintenance in Bldg 8W completed for today.
Starting Monday 3/18 Networking Department will be upgrading the network equipment in building 8W the Student Health Services building. The work will be done from 5:00am to 7:00am daily until all interface ports have been moved to the new equipment. All work will be completed by Friday 3/22. This does not affect the PCI network.
