OIT Systems Maintenance

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 2/06/2025 from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Printing Services Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading printing services used in the computer labs, library, and web printing on Thursday, February 6th, between the hours of 4AM and 7AM.
Change window start: 2/06/2025 4:00 AM
Change window end: 2/06/2025 7:00 AM
Affected services: Papercut pay for printing services including lab printing, pop-up client printing and web printing via fauprint.fau.edu.
Expected End-user impact: Printing services in the labs, library, and fauprint.fau.edu will be intermittently unavailable during this upgrade.


Deploy New Alert Software that will replace Altertus to Boca
Description of change: OIT will silently push out new SirCom alert software to all Intune/SCCM managed laptops and desktops for the Boca Campus starting Friday, February 7, at midnight.

Banner graduation date change for College of Medicine
Description of change: OIT will be making a change to update the graduation date for the entire upcoming College of Medicine graduation class from 5/5/2025 – 5/6/2025.

[Update] Mediasite Recording delays

Mediasite has completed deploying their hotfix. Recording processing should now return to normal.

[RESOLVED] uAchieve Degree Audit Outage

uAchieve is now working correctly. Students and Advisors should be able to call degree audits.

We are currently experiencing issues with the production degree audit system, uAchieve. We are working to restore the service now.

Description of change: OIT will be performing routine maintenance the email gateways from 5:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday January 23rd. Email delivery may be impacted during this time.

Description of change: OIT will be making a change to the load process package which will add additional attributes that may be missing in Banner for returning students from 6:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 23rd. Banner will be available during this time.

[RESOLVED] Issue with outbound calls on Davie Campus

Davie phones are having issues making outbound calls. If there is an emergency please use a cellular device.

Our team identified the issue, and it has been corrected. Maintenance will be done later tonight to ensure this issue does not happen again.

Web Login Service – Unsupported Request
The application you have accessed is not registered for use with this service.

If you close out your browser or retry, you will eventually get the login prompt, and be able to connect successfully.

We are working on the issue now, and should have it resolved momentarily.

Microsoft is currently experiencing issues worldwide. This affects Outlook and Teams apps, among others. Microsoft is working on the issue and will post updates when available.

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Microsoft 365 Login Adjustments
Description of change: OIT will be making adjustments to Microsoft 365 sign-in restrictions. End user impact is expected to be minimal.
Downtime window start: 10/09/2024 7:00 AM
Downtime window end: 10/09/2024 7:05 AM
Affected services: Microsoft 365 and Azure services including VPN.
End-user impact: Compromised accounts will no longer be able to be accessed prior to remediation by OIT. Administrative accounts will only allow signing from geographically local locations.


Banner Database updates
Description of change: Ellucian will be performing quarterly patch updates on Banner and other related database servers.

Description of change: Modifying Banner registration page to display a new warning message for intersession courses.

Updating civic literacy process in Banner
Description of change: The BOG has approved the new Civics Literacy requirements effective Fall 2024. Modifying the process to include two courses to be in compliance with the BOG.

Advanced VPN Client Updates
Description of change: OIT will be pushing additional updates to user running the Advanced VPN client starting October 8th, 2024. Users will receive a notification to upgrade their VPN client and they will be prompted to reboot their device afterwards in order to apply the changes.

Affected services: Advanced VPN
End-user impact: Users running the Advanced VPN client will be prompted to upgrade their client. If the user chooses not to upgrade, it will be automatically scheduled for later in the evening. Following the upgrade process, the user will be prompted to reboot their device.
