Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday our maintenance window took place on Wednesday, November 24. The following system were down for maintenance.
At 15:43 a router crashed, causing a network outage all over the Boca campus. Network connectivity was restored at 15:54.
On Monday, October 11, 2010 the FAUBETA wireless network will become the FAU wireless network. The new network allows wireless access without having to authenticate repeatedly. You will be asked to perform a one-time device registration after which you will no longer have to authenticate to the network – you can just connect! If you registered your device on FAUBETA during the trial phase you will not need to re-register. Just select the FAU wireless network and connect.
In addition, the FAUGUEST wireless network will be launched to provide wireless access to university guests, such as guest speakers, those attending conferences, and others visiting the campus for a short time. FAUGUEST users can login with a guest FAUNet ID and password. FAUGUEST is also available to any user with an FAUNet ID who does not wish to register his or her device on the FAU network.

ReportCaster stopped running jobs sometime after 6:00 pm on Saturday, 9/25/2010. ReportCaster has been restarted and jobs are currently being executed.
All Announcements stored in MyFAU have currently disappeared. This effects announcements that were posted for view in the Announcement channels in MyFAU and also any future announcements (email or announcement channel) scheduled for delivery in the future.
We are currently experiencing a fiber problem that is affecting the network on the first floor of building 31 – Student Union. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
We will be performing Emergency System maintenance starting today, Monday, 09/13/2010, starting at 12:00pm. The Luminis LDAP will be modified via an implemented Script to increase the email quota for all students to 30MB. This change will affect all Student email quotas and will take affect dynamically once the LDAP parameter is modified.
Because of a memory leak in one of our network appliances, we will have to perform a emergency reboot of the appliance. This will be tomorrow, 09/10/2010 between 6 and 7 am. The reboot will affect network connectivity to the VPN3030. Those that are using the newer VPN (AnyConnect) will not be affected.

Today a message went out to our users regarding their password expiring. This is a legit email and I apologize for not sending out a “heads-up” message earlier. This message (and the reminders that will follow) targets users who have not reset their password since May 3, 2010. A first warning will be sent 2 weeks before password expires, then a week before, and lastly 3 days before. In the next few weeks you will receive a notice that your FAUNet ID password will soon expire unless you change it. The password expiration is part of the 1 username-1 password (universal login) project that went into effect in May. In order to protect your personal information, university data, and the services available through the FAU network, you will now need to change your password at least once a year.
Once your password has expired, you will be prompted to change it on your next login to MyFAU or your Windows desktop before continuing with the login. You can avoid this inconvenience by changing your password now. MyFAU users can change their password by selecting the “My Account”
link on the top left of the page. Users already logged into Microsoft Windows can use Ctrl + Alt + Del and select the “Change Password” button.
