OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Oct 16 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/16/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 3:00AM to 6:00AM
Affected services: Identity Manager, User account creation, Password Synchronization, MyFAU, SSO, Blackboard, Banner Self Service, All authentication Services
Affected systems: idm4p, idm1, idm2, MCSource​
Description of maintenance: OIT will be upgrading the Identity Manager connection to MyFAU to correct a bug that prevents returning users from automatically receiving active directory accounts.​
User impact: User passwords may not sync during this change window​ as the connector will be offline during the upgrade.

Affected services: ​AD authentication on Jupiter campus
Affected systems: jupdcfau01 & jupdcirm01​
Description of maintenance: OIT is updating the systems servicing user and computer account authentication for the Jupiter campus.
User impact: Logins on the Jupiter campus may be slower during the window

When: 4:00AM to 6:00AM
Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: Blackboard
Description of maintenance: OIT will be changing the mail server blackboard uses to send emails out to the users.  This is to fix an issue where a small percentage of users were getting [Suspicious Message] appended to their outbound emails.
User impact: We will be doing rolling restarts to make the config change and hope that this will not impact any users at all.

Affected services: Exchange email
Affected systems: exchangeca[01-05] & exchangemb[01-05]​
Description of maintenance: OIT will be implementing the following limitations on all FAU employee mail accounts: •​Can send to 5,000 recipients per day •Can send a maximum of 30 messages per minute
User impact: ​No end-user impact is expected during the policy change

When: 6:15AM to 6:50AM
Affected services: none
Affected systems: Ironport server (bertx)
Description of maintenance:  OIT will upgrade the Ironport Server (bertx) from version 8.5.6-074 to 8.5.6-092 to fix a security problem​
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

When: 7:00AM to 7:10AM
Affected services: DPM (data protection manager)
Affected systems: Active Directory
Description of maintenance: OIT will link a DPM Group Policy to enable DPM client server communication​.
User impact: No end-user impact is expected during the policy change

***************************************************

When: 4:45PM to 5:00PM
Affected services: ​VIP Student Record Image Retrieval (vip.fau.edu)
Affected systems: qstarserver2.fau.edu, vip.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: The current server responsible for storing VIP images will be replaced by a newer, virtual one.​
User impact: ​Users will not be able to retrieve images or image retrieval will be erratic during switchover.
