The SMS (text message) provider for the FAUGuest wireless system is currently experiencing downtime. Logging in with your FAUNet ID is still functional, but any new login requests will not be sent via SMS.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 03/06/2014 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: Blackboard
Description of maintenance: Systems will be applying a patch to blackboard to remedy a java issue some users may see with the newest java version. We will also be making a configuration change to alleviate issues some users may experience with the newest version of internet explorer 11.
User impact: Blackboard will be unavailable for about two hours(likely less) while we apply the patch and make the configuration changes.

Affected services: Blackboard and servers that utilize proxy for updates and/or contacting internet
Affected systems: octopus.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: OIT will be upgrading the operating system of the server.
User impact: Blackboard users may not be able to use certain building blocks. Servers that utilize the proxy for updates and/or contacting the internet will not work
OIT will be performing maintenance on core network equipment early tomorrow morning from 2:00a.m. until 3:00a.m. During this time, access to and from the internet and access between various network-based services at FAU will be interrupted. OIT anticipates between 20 and 30 minutes of downtime.
The Network maintenance scheduled from 2:00 – 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014 has been successfully completed.
