OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs, Oct 27 from 2:00AM – 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/27/2016 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Description of maintenance: Various updates and enhancements are being deployed to the Undergraduate Admissions Application.  A majority of them are highlighted in the attached PDF.
User impact: The undergraduate admissions application will be unavailable within certain intervals during the maintenance.

Upgrade Citrix NetScaler Firmware
When: 4:00AM – 4:15AM
Affected services:  NetScaler
Affected systems: Logins, access, will end active sessions (if any)
Description of maintenance: Upgrade our Virutal Apps Netscaler firmware from v10 to v11​. It should only take 5-15 minutes and requires a reboot
User impact: Logins, access, will end active sessions (if any)

External DDoS Attack Affecting Connectivity to Non-FAU Sites and Services

An external denial of service attack is affecting connectivity to many large sites and services external to FAU. These services include Workday, Paypal, Twitter, Ellucian, Spotify, Reddit, Soundcloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and many other services. At this time, connectivity to the sites mentioned and many others on the internet may not be possible until the issues are resolved. This attack is not directed at FAU, but it is affecting access to many services on the internet for users inside and outside of FAU.

Description of maintenance: Need to configure ports for fiber channel and as initiators in order to perform tape backup of data. This requires a reboot. We will do the reboot as a failover/giveback so that nothing goes down.

TouchNet Payment Processing System Maintenance – Wed. Oct 19 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

The TouchNet payment processing system will be undergoing routine maintenance; from 3:00(am) to 7:00(am) – EST on Wednesday 10/19/16.
