[POSTPONED] Network Maintenance – Jupiter Campus – Saturday June 29th and Sunday June 30th from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m.

The network maintenance originally scheduled for this weekend in Jupiter has been postponed. The maintenance will now take place sometime in July and a new notice will be posted prior to the maintenance when the dates are finalized.

[Completed] Wireless network upgrades on July 8 – 10 and July 15 – 17 between 5:00 am and 6:00 am

OIT will be performing upgrades and enhancements to the wireless network segments between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. beginning on Monday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 10, and Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 17. During the maintenance windows, there will be a 15-20 minute disruption to the FAU wireless networks. Expected campus upgrades are as follows:

Monday, July 8, 2019
Fort Lauderdale, Davie, and Harbor Branch campuses will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks.

Tuesday, July 9, 2019
Jupiter campus will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks.

Wednesday, July 10, 2019
Security enhancements will be applied to the campus locations listed above. The security enhancements will include a new digital certificate for the fauwpa2 network.
Please note: All fauwpa2 users will be prompted to accept the new digital certificate.

Monday – Wednesday, July 15 – 17, 2019
Portions of the Boca Raton Campus will experience a 15-20 minute disruption to the campus wireless networks. Security enhancements will also be applied during this time. The security enhancements will include a new digital certificate for the fauwpa2 network.
Please note: All fauwpa2 users will be prompted to accept the new digital certificate.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. June 27 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/27/2019 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Single Sign On Maintenance to Support WebEx Admin
Description of change: OIT will update the Single Sign On configuration to support WebEx’s new deployment. This is required to support WebEx’s non-standard single sign on setup. ​

Affected services: Single Sign On​ and all services which utilize it. This includes but is not limited to: Workday, Canvas, Banner, and MyFAU
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected. However, there is a small chance that one or more single sign on servers could stop during this maintenance. If this occurs, users will be redirected to the OIT disaster recovery site. When this occurs some services will momentarily fail to authenticate. Reports of 2Factor/MFA enrollment issues

Users have reported that issues enrolling and activating MFA/2Factor on their user accounts. We have tracked the issue down and will be fixing it between 9 pm and 9:30 pm June 16, 2019. During this period both the student and employee enrollment applications will be offline.

[Service Restored] Davie Campus Power Outage Second Floor of Education an Science Building

There is a power outage in the Davie Campus second floor networking closet that is causing data and wireless network to be down for users in the surrounding area. Facilities is aware of the issue and physical plant is deploying technicians to restore service.

Description of change: OIT will restart one of five LDAP user information servers to recover the ability to manage it properly.​

Affected services: A major service that may be impacted is Single Sign-on logins.  Other services may be OIM  (Oracle Identity Management) changes that need to be performed on OUD (Oracle Unified Directory) and any service requiring LDAP connections to OUD (Oracle Unified Directory).
Affected systems: boc22oudp02 proxy instance (asinst_2)​
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no long term impact is expected as this is only 1 of 5 OUD servers.  They are redundant and new connections would be routed to servers that are still alive. Momentary interruption of services may occur if something has been connected to that server and did not complete its operation during the shutdown.
