RESOLVED – Workday FAU Production Tenant Experiencing Performance Issues

Workday has alerted us that they found the source of the service degradation issue and have resolved it. We tested and the system is now back to standard performance.

Workday alerted us that they are having issues with Production tenants hosted in their WD1 Data Center. They are trying to determine the root cause so they can restore the service to normal operation. Users may experience slow loading pages, tasks not running, including the home page not loading when logging in. We will continue to monitor Workday’s progress and update this announcement as we receive alerts.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Sept 29 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 09/29/2022 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:


Disallow personal devices from being managed by FAU’s Microsoft tenant
Description of change: OIT will be disabling the feature that allows personal devices to be joined to FAU’s Microsoft Azure AD.

Downtime window end: 09/29/2022 6:00 AM
Affected services: Personal devices
End-user impact: End users will no longer be able to join their personal devices to Azure AD


Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing server maintenance on Banner. During this time, access to the job scheduling system may be unavailable.

End-user impact: Appworx will be unavailable during the upgrade.

[RESOLVED] System Outage – Help Desk Ticketing

The help desk ticketing system is back online. The vendor is monitoring the system to make sure it is stable.

[Resolved] Canvas Users are experiencing Slowness and Errors

Update as of 2:42 PM: The incident has been resolved.

Update as of 2:36 PM: A fix has been implemented and they are monitoring the results.

Update as of 2:31 PM: Instructure has identified the issue and a fix is being implemented.

Instructure has reported that a large portion of Canvas clients are experiencing slowness and errors in the US. We are monitoring their status of the issue and will post updates here as they come in.

Malwarebytes currently blocking Google

We have identified that our anti-malware software Malwarebytes is currently blocking access to the Google.com domain. We are currently investigating the status and will update as we receive additional information.

Description of change: The network registration system and part of the Library’s EZproxy authentication system will be upgraded and migrated to new infrastructure. These upgrades include several features requested by end users at The University. The new features are:
FAUGuest Wireless will support email addresses.
FAUGuest Wireless now supports FAU’s current theme and usability standards
Performance improvements to Network Registration

End-user impact: The FAU Guest network registration system will get a new theme applied and will support email. There should be no other user impact.
