WebLogic migration to Banner production next Thursday 6/14/2012

WebLogic will be migrated to Banner INB production next Thursday 6/14/2012 between 3:00AM – 7:00AM. If you receive the following error when attempting to log into Banner FAUP INB, you will need to clear out the Java cache on your workstation.

How to clear out your Java cache: 1. Close down all web browser windows. 2. Go into your workstation’s control panel. 3. In upper right corner of window, select ‘Large icons’ in the drop down options for the ‘View by:’ 4. Select ‘Java’ 5. In the ‘General’ tab, click the ‘Settings . . . ‘ button in the ‘Temporary Internet Files’ section. 6. Click the ‘Delete Files . . .’ button in the ‘Disk Space’ section. 7. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Delete Temporary Files’ window (both check boxes should be checked). 8. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Temporary Files Settings’ window. 9. Click the ‘OK’ button in the ‘Java Control Panel’ window. 10. Close the ‘Control Panel’ window. 11. Start up your web browser and try again.

BigIP Emergency Maintenance

Systems will be applying a livepatch to mitigate a vulnerability discovered by BigIP.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. June 7, 2012 from 3:00am – 7:00am

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 06/05/2012 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 4:30 am – 5:00 am
Affected services: Central Authentication Service (CAS), OwlApps, E-college, Network Registration,
Affected systems: lintalon0 and lintalon1
Description of maintenance: We will be upgrading our CAS server to the latest version and deploying our production InCommon Shibboleth instance.

When: 6:00 am – 7:00 am
Affected services: IDM
Affected systems: IDM1, IDM2, IDM4P
Description of maintenance: Create new IDM resource, we will be adding a new directory resource designed to securely populate directory information.
User Impact: None

When: 5:00 am – 6:00 am
Affected services: DHCP, Blackboard, Network Registration, Phone Bill
Affected systems: Bba[1-6], bbc[1-2], bbx[1-2], bbm1, dhcpboc[0-1], dhcpdav1, dhcpjup1, lintalon[0-1], talonx[1-2], idm[1-2], madcat1p
Description of maintenance: The goal of the change is to update Middleware Scientific Linux systems to the latest patch and feature level (6.2).
User Impact: Intermittent loss of service is expected for DHCP on all campuses between 5:00 am and 6:00 am. Blackboard, NetReg, and PhoneBill may be unavailable for small periods of time, but this is unexpected.

[RESOLVED] Sharepoint slow performance

The sharepoint issues have been resolved, and traced back to a failed server. We will continue to monitor the machine for issues.

12:04 pm: Sharepoint.fau.edu is now online but running very slowly. We are continuing to investigate the problem and will update this post hourly.

11:52 am: Sharepoint.fau.edu is currently returning a 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR when accessed by clients. We are currently investigating.

When: Thursday May 31th 2012, 6:00 am – 7:00 am
Affected services:  CM22 desktop computers
Affected systems:  CM22 desktop computers
Description of maintenance:

We will be deploying the Microsoft System Center Operations Management agent to all desktop and laptop computers contained within the \Boc\22_CM organizational unit of the irm.ad.fau.edu domain. In summary this will uninstall Symantec Antivirus, install Microsoft Forefront End Point Protection and point the desktop to use a new Windows Update server that includes a more inclusive set of updated packages.

User impact: Users may see a small green square in their system tray, please do not be alarmed this is the Forefront icon and indicates that your system is protected. If you notice a red square please contact the Help Desk. Also, some computers which have not in the past received windows updates may alert that updates are available.

 

When: Wednesday May 30th 2012, 3:00 am – 5:00 am
Affected services: Microsoft Exchange
Affected systems:  Microsoft Exchange Cluster
Description of maintenance: Part one of the Exchange 2012 to Exchange 2012 SP2 upgrade. Systems will be upgrading the inactive Exchange servers from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010 SP2
User impact: None

 

When: Thursday May 31th 2012, 3:00 am – 5:00 am
Affected services:  Microsoft Exchange
Affected systems:  Microsoft Exchange Cluster
Description of maintenance: Part two of Exchange 2012 to Exchange 2012 SP2 upgrade. Systems will first move all users to the machines upgraded on Wednesday Morning and then proceed with upgrading the remaining servers to Exchange 2010 SP2.
User impact: None
