[Completed]Student Union Network Upgrades on November 5, 5:00 – 6:30 am

On Tuesday, November 5, 2019, between 5:00 am and 6:30 am, OIT will upgrade the network in the FAU Student Union Building on the Boca Raton Campus.  Due to the nature of the maintenance, users may experience intermittent network outages lasting approximately 10 minutes during this window.

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/24/2019 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window.  In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Description of change: OIT will merge the Update Your Password and Manage Your Account tiles. Users will be prompted to add a recovery email upon login when one isn’t already assigned. Users will need to confirm their password to update sms or recovery email. Password recovery questions will be removed.

Affected services: ​Accounts Self Service – https://accounts.fau.edu
Expected End-user impact: During this time, users may be required to restart an in-progress workflow.

Affected services: No downtime is expected expected but there is a potential to affect: all services dependent on NetApp storage, including major ones such as, all VM’s on Hyper-V, all VM’s on VMware. Some of the major services potentially impacted are, but not limited to:
Banner, OIM, Andi Shares, Ibiweb, MSSQL databases and services dependent on those, Network Registration, Grouper, Owlapp, Edocs, SAS, Papercut
Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected. ​Server / Service administrators may see a pause in data transfer while a node is failing over and back.

Research Computing Resources

Due to a failure of A/C on the Jupiter Campus the Research Computing resources including Koko, Koko-login, KokoWin, and Samba drives are offline. Physical Plant is working on the issue and we have a long running project in place to prevent this type of failure in the future. If you have any questions please let us know.

Delayed BHRIC Upgrade
Description of change:  ​Upgrade the Biomedical Research Informatic’s Cores Virtual  Infrastructure to ​​the latest versions.
Downtime window start: 8:00 PM (10/16)
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: BHRIC Virtual Desktop Infrastructure​
Expected End-user impact: Vmware View will lose access to vCenter during this process and users will be unable to spawn suspended or powered offed virtual machines.

Description of change: OIT will be applying patches on the BHRIC server environment
Downtime window start: 2:00 AM

Affected services: BRHIC VDI
Expected End-user impact: Most virtual desktops will be suspended starting at 2 am. So users accessing the cluster from 2 am to 6 am will need to wait while for their VM to start again should they wish to use it. Users will also need to wait slightly when they connect in the morning as most services will be suspended.

[Resolved] TouchNet Systems Maintenance, Wed. October 18th from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

The TouchNet payment processing system will be undergoing maintenance -Starting from 3:00am to 7:00am (EST) Wednesday, 10/16/2019
This affects student payment services (Bill+Payment), as well as all Marketplace Stores, uPay sites and TouchNet ready partner payment services.
We expect all systems to be back online no later than 7:00 am (EST) that morning. When the system is back up and ready to go, we will notify you.
You may wish to place warnings on your website, or take your store offline. If this scheduled downtime creates a conflict for your operations, please feel free to contact us at FIS@fau.edu for further discussion.
Expected End-user impact: During this time all student payment services (Bill+Payment), as well as all Marketplace Stores, uPay sites and TouchNet ready partner payment services will be unavailable during this maintenance cycle.
